Happy Father’s Day to all dads—and to those who have been a father figure to someone special.
This week, we are proud to honor our dad, Pete Zelek. In 1951, he and his new wife, Sylvia (our mom), took a bold leap of faith and opened their own flower shop—laying the foundation for a family legacy that continues today.
Dad was the shop’s true “creative director.” His talent for floral design was legendary, but his vision extended far beyond arrangements. He had a keen eye for display, an instinct for trends, and a constant drive to make the shop better. In the 1970s, he created the Mini-Mall in the shop's lower level, an innovative way to showcase gift and home décor items —and designed a floral basket that was sold nationwide.
He was a caring husband, a proud father of four and a devoted family man who cherished time with his siblings and celebrated his Polish heritage. Though he passed away way too soon, having met only one of his four grandchildren, his legacy lives on through all of us.
With love and gratitude,
Peter, Fran, Tim and Mary
