Coming on our next container ! Antique French wooden butter molds ! Today, they are preferred kitchenalia objets du jour and highly collectible. But, once upon a time, butter was presented, treated and embellished with care and the handcrafted butter molds had varying stamped patterns from florals to cows. The art of food making and presentation was so elaborate even if a basic necessity. Yet today, we take butter out of the refrigerator that is wrapped in foil or plastic and don’t think twice about how something as simple as butter can enhance every meal. I also love how butter pats were used to provide individual portions of butter to each place setting! I’m bringing those back, too!

These will be available at our container event (hopefully in late July), so be sure to sign up for our emails (email recipients will get announcements and specials first) and follow us on socials for container reveal updates. There will be a Rusty Fan VIP event for signups for first dibs prior to a general public open. As with many of our finds, there is limited availability so be sure to sign up once we make our announcement with all the details !

Posting live time in the morning from Tennessee… after three weeks in three countries, three markets, several brocantes and dealers, I’m back home ! It will take a moment to catch my breath, soak in Loremoor, enjoy Duke, catchup with and enjoy being with Mr R&R and my dad …but I’m also perusing my photos to remember what I bought and share them with you for sneak peeks at what will be at our container reveal event ! I’m hoping for late July to early August so once I have a date will share the details ! Trip and product pics throughout the week while I do all the backshop work to prepare ! Happy Saturday everyone …. We open next Saturday June 6 ! 🤗B

Do you travel alone? I often get asked how do I travel solo, or told I’m so brave and how do you manage to do all the things in Europe ! I had to force myself to just do it, or guess what? It wouldn’t happen and I’d miss out on so much !

My European antique buying trips are often with clients, and this one was as well until the last two days since Claire returned early once her container was full! I also traveled solo for my November European antique buying trip. I find the best of both worlds… traveling with clients and the friendship and camaraderie (and helping navigate while driving is a perk) is a joy ; but when traveling solo I notice and appreciate all the things. The scenery. The people. The architecture. There is no conversation to consume the moments and my experience in Europe is absorbed on a more personal level. I am comfortable and don’t feel out of place . I met a Dutch woman today, also dining solo, and she said she actually preferred traveling and dining alone often because of what I just explained above . Instead of focusing on my client, I can enjoy the in the moment ! Best of both worlds to have clients and solo time ! I would invite you to do the same on my tour to take some solo time, or if you’re not comfortable traveling solo, try it once! It’s freeing! On this trip, I’ve enjoyed one evening in my favorite Ghent by myself , and two new cities I’ve quite loved and added to favorites : Utrecht and Harderwijk. Yes, these tours are 80-90% buying antiques, which is pure heaven in itself, but I take the time to treasure our surroundings with some downtime, too!

Back home soon and will play catchup on socials with my finds and travels !

Fabulous places are to be found in Ghent . Browsed a couple antique stores and found a pretty brass small letter file to put my business post cards in… I wish I could buy to sell here, but alas, as my mom would have said “no meat on the bone”! Beautiful browsing though, and a wee bit deeper pockets needed. But you could find that special gotta have!

Open June 6, right after returning from my European antique buying trip …. I’ll need to spruce the shop since we had some activity just before I left, and I’ll add a few new items, too. I’ll also open another day in June since summer is slow and everyone is in and out with holiday-ing. I’ll also want to make room for the newest arrivals from this next container of finds, expected July ! Come see me and I’ll share my stories of my trip!

Art in frames (or not) is a must … but true art is what I find from visiting European dealer homes and shops, especially in or about the gardens. A few vignettes I found irresistible and inspiring on this trip and missing my own garden so much.. I think I have a lot of ideas to incorporate ! What’s your fave ?

How do I pick what goes on my container when I’m surrounded by so many choices and beautiful markets, shops and dealers spaces like here?

It’s easy and hard! I have a general budget, know my shop/warehouse space limitations, and a general idea what I’m looking for or like, and hopefully what my customers are looking for and their price points as well. Also it depends on what’s available while sourcing! I don’t have a huge pre-set list as that will slow me down when buying, but I do try to buy a balance of many things. Tables ✔️ Hutches, armoires and cabinets ✔️Dressers ✔️Buffets ✔️ Chairs ✔️ Leather ✔️ Stripped and Brown ✔️ Smalls galore and a whole bunch more. Sometimes I score big, other times things I’m looking for elude me. I’m eclectic and don’t have an aesthetic per se like some dealers because I like so many things and love to offer that as well. I really can’t describe my rustic and refined style … feel free to comment what you think ?

A 40-foot container can be a lot until you start buying and it fills up fast and I’m already pretty full with potentially room for “a few more”! ➡️So tell me… what would those few more pieces be if you were with me?

And I get to do this again in September ! Who is coming with me ???

Just a Brocante at a chateau in Belgium . 🇧🇪 No trending audio, just live time sounds of the beautiful Brocante!

Swipe for pics and videos ! It’s all beautiful and it’s hard to pick a fave but I’d say it’s a tie between the chapel and the water fountain grounds ! What’s your fave ?

It’s an annual event (and darn it I forgot to get a pic of Simon ) and 65 dealers are in attendance ! From smalls to fantastic chandeliers and Swedish French furniture, there is a lot of eye candy! We did get a few goodies and I’m seriously debating a couple large pieces ! Finally, the weather is on our favor albeit a tad bit on the hotter side !

I know I know … I’ve been promising sneak peeks of some of the finds, but with long days and homework , it’s been hard when I have to choose sleep over social media ! Here are some of the goods! So much more to come and the container is filling fast ! Arriving in Tennessee this summer…Any faves?
