I can’t help it …

I might be more excited about this next container than ever before.

There’s just so much European antique goodness coming and my favorites may change daily, but for now I’ll tease you with the temptations arriving this summer ! Once I have a load date I’ll announce my August container reveal event !

For now, we open Saturday June 20 and I’ll be offering some new items! Sneak peeks soon. Warehouse open by request, shop open 10-3, and our space at Columbia Antique Marketplace is open Tuesday through Sunday ! Online always . 🤗B

Aka dressers, chest of drawers (Chester drawers for some of you 🤣). I’ve selected both stripped and brown and all 1780-1920… most are French, but there’s an English one in there, and maybe a Belgian. I occasionally get the 1940s, but sometimes the backs aren’t solid slabs of wood that I like in older pieces . All coming soon on our next container, expected container reveal event mid August . Some things might not make this container, since apparently I over-bought yet again (over 500 like items) and I won’t know which things remain behind until later . But, a 40 foot container holds an awful lot and there will be so much European antique furniture and decor goodness, that we can be patient to get the backlog until next time. Until then, here are some sneak peeks in anticipation of our August event! ➡️Which is your fave?!

1880s French Enfilade

This guy was a unique find and pick for me… I liked its clean lines and slightly transitional look that works in several styles of design. Typically, I gravitate toward more carved and French country styles but every once in a while, I like to find pieces that are more versatile. The interior shelves, however, were lined with contact paper (typical of many antique European pieces … they are lined with anything from fabric, wrapping paper, wallpaper, and contact paper). However, when I initially tried to remove it , it was quite stubborn and much remained . I finally got some time to attack it properly and out can the heat gun making the process easier and faster (swipe to see video) . It’s now ready for its forever home. There’s a third top shelf and drawer far were more than likely added at some point of its life and can be removed, but we think the added storage is a bonus. Measures 81” long by 19.5” deep and 40.25”‘high. Can be seen by appointment, or at our next shop open June 20 (it’s at our warehouse and warehouse visits by appointment or requests ).

The country roads in Europe are dotted with small towns and a steeple (always), and often 🐑 sheep and cows 🐄 . Exclamations of SHEEP and COWS are mandatory, as is stopping the car to get out and take a picture. Surely the Europeans are used to this by now, but we did have one gentleman and his sheep dog quite curious about our photo escapade, so we took their photo, too! . Horses 🐎 and pigs/hogs 🐖 are extra, and camels? 🐪 That was extra extra and just a once in a lifetime funny occurrence because camels in Europe ??

Antiques, architecture, people, flora/fauna, food and drink all add to the European sourcing experience, but animals really just make you smile ! Come on admit it… you just got a little bit of joy now!

G H E N T (Dutch: Gent, French: Gand, historically known as Gaunt in English) is a city and a municipality in the East Flanders province of the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is the capital and largest city of the province and the third largest in the country, after Brussels and Antwerp. It is a port and university city.

My main hub while on my European antique sourcing trips, and always a fave. It offers many UNESCO sites but stops short of being a UNESCO city unlike its counterpart, Brugge, apparently due to one modern building along the canal. I absolutely adore Ghent and always recommend visiting here to enjoy the food, culture, and architecture . Sensory overload ! It’s conveniently located within 30 to 90 minutes from most of my antique sources, and offers an evening respite with plenty of restaurants and walking tours. Sadly, my linen shop closed but they have a location in Brugge which I don’t always have time to visit. But, there are other gift options that include Belgian chocolates, the “nose of Ghent” and a wide variety of Flemish gifts. I would consider this area a potential live abroad, but darn that Flemish language is killer ! Fortunately, English is widely spoken! Have you been ?

The shop (and warehouse by request) will be open Saturday, 20 June from 10-3. We also open by appointment… I’ll be here this morning for an appointment if you want to pop in before 11. Our Columbia Antique Marketplace is open Tuesday through Sunday !

32 years ago today, Mr R&R and I welcomed daughter one into our lives and our world changed forever . It continued to change as she grew up to the beautiful and accomplished woman she is today. From her first breath and steps, to her walking across the Boston University stage, to accepting a Navy commission on the USS Constitution and her first F/A-18 flight … we’ve been so proud and thrilled as she grows and thrives . This last year has been one of continued firsts and lasts… Getting engaged and getting out of the Navy ! Cannot wait to see where this next chapter and season of her life will take her … but we know it will be filled with the zest of making it a wonderful one not lacking in adventures , books, wine, love and laughter . Happiest of birthdays Poohsey! We love you, and as always proud of you, and hope you’re enjoying your birthday in the wilderness! Mama and Daddy
