Quick video and pics showing how to change the oil.

Changing/ filtering the oil is easy and only takes a few minutes!

My oil was looking pretty yuck so I decided to change it. As you can see it’s a quick and easy process. I’m going to filter it a few times to see how clean I can get it but I’m probably not reusing this batch. Cuz it looks funky! 🫤

A couple of tips….use only high quality vacuum pump oil. When you think you have all the oil out be sure to tip your pump forward to get any more that’s hiding inside. Also, when adding your oil back in give it a few minutes to work it’s way thru the machine. You want your oil level at the center line and sometimes it takes a minute or two to catch up with itself. The pump needs around 600-650 ml to adequately fill. If you do over fill it, you can always just drain more off. Also note the pumps drain valve open and closed positions.

The Carmel apples are done and delicious. Perfectly crunchy and taste really good. So I pulled those out and put the rest back in. The watermelon, lemons and limes are doing great but just need to be a little more dry. The grapes are warm and mushy. Those are a fail.

The only other time I’ve done grapes they were pre frozen bagged from the store. And they turned out great. Even tho these pre froze in the freeze dryer, that just wasn’t the same. Apparently they need to be cut or punctured before hand. Lesson learned.
