Inspo | Renovated Noto Convent with an Artist’s touch of Blue
Nestled in the small, southern town of Noto in Sicily this home studio by Artist Sergio Fiorentino mixes the old and new, combining mid century modern furniture and a minimal aesthetic in a former Cistercian convent. His own paintings are prevalent throughout the space, classically contemporary and realized in brisk blue brush strokes- the ultramarine blue that defines his artwork a symbol of sacredness and rebirth akin to the restoration of his home.
Partnering with architect Massimo Carnemolla, .it the project was at its roots a restoration of the building- removing the false lowered ceiling, uncovering the stone floors and original plaster walls and celebrating the “cracks and signs of the times”.
