ARAS Pop-Up Begins This Week!
June 19–20 | Come Meet the Makers

Rooted in the quiet tradition of Ishikawa, Ishikawa Resin Industry was founded in 1949 in Kaga—a region shaped by snow, craftsmanship, and time. In winter, when the land rests, families would gather indoors to carve wood and lacquer by hand. That seasonal rhythm—marked by patience, care, and precision—continues to inform their work today.

Originally makers of wooden bases for traditional lacquerware, the company evolved with intention, turning to resin—a lightweight, durable material once developed for aerospace engineering. In 2020, ARAS was born, introducing thoughtfully designed collections like Cedar Bark and Sea Mineral.

The result is a thoughtful fusion: advanced materials with the soul of Japanese design. Unbreakable, quietly artful, and crafted to elevate everyday rituals.

Join us at ARJ Los Angeles to discover the new collection launching during the pop-up and meet the visionaries behind the work.

Yuko Ikeda Exhibition: May 10 - 23, 2025 | ARJ Santa Monica

Yuko Ikeda uses precious metals—silver, gold, bronze, and platinum—to bring depth and quiet strength to her work.

In her silver-glazed pieces, she applies the glaze generously and unevenly, creating a weathered, timeworn surface. This contrasts with traditional methods, where silver is applied thinly to prevent flaking. By layering platinum with the silver, she adds softness, richness, and subtle texture.

Each piece offers a moment of stillness—inviting quiet reflection—and settles naturally into both contemporary and timeless spaces.

Yuko Ikeda (池田優子) Exhibition

Yuko Ikeda, one of the most acclaimed and respected artists in Japan’s contemporary ceramic scene, presents her first U.S. solo exhibition at ARJ Los Angeles. Opening May 10th, just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.

Yuko Ikeda (池田優子)

There’s a quiet story within each work by Yuko Ikeda. Her pieces might rest like modern masterpieces in a gallery—or feel like relics shaped by nature, discovered along the shore. Each vessel carries a distinct presence, inviting reflection and gentle curiosity.

From her studio in Osaka, Ikeda often retreats to her beach house, where she draws inspiration from the natural world—seashells, waves, petals, leaves, and snowfall. Her ceramics echo these elements through fluid forms and layered textures, unfolding like landscapes and evoking the quiet depth of abstract painting.

Her intuitive and unbounded approach has influenced a new generation of artists in Japan. Now focused on solo exhibitions, she continues to create collections that reflect her evolving inner world—delicate yet bold, grounded yet full of movement.
