“Knock You Naked Brownies” are a classic layered dessert with a chewy brownie base, gooey caramel center, chocolate chips, and a second brownie layer on top.
Knock You Naked Brownies
Ingredients
* 1 box (15.25oz) German chocolate cake mix
* ⅓ cup evaporated milk
* ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
* 40 whole caramel candies, unwrapped
* ⅓ cup evaporated milk (for the caramel)
* 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
* 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
* 2 Tablespoons Powder sugar for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, melted butter, and ⅓ cup evaporated milk. The mixture will be thick.
3. Press half of the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
4. Bake for 8–10 minutes until just set.
5. Meanwhile, melt the caramels with the remaining ⅓ cup evaporated milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
6. Remove the brownie layer from the oven. Sprinkle the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) evenly over the hot crust.
7. Pour the warm caramel sauce over the chocolate chips.
8. Flatten pieces of the remaining dough with your hands and lay them over the caramel as evenly as possible. It doesn’t have to completely cover the caramel.
9. Bake for another 18–22 minutes, until the top is set.
10. Let the brownies cool completely, then refrigerate for 1–2 hours before cutting. This helps the caramel set and makes cleaner slices.
11. Sift powder sugar on top.
Tips
* Sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top before serving for a sweet-and-salty twist, optional A
* Warm individual brownies in the microwave for 10–15 seconds for an extra gooey caramel center.
* Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
