One kitchen. Two islands. Zero compromise. 🤍
I designed this project from the ground up and the kitchen was where I had the most fun.
Most people think one island is enough.
But when you really think about how a family uses a kitchen everything changes.
So we split it.
Island one: fully functional. The workhorse. Where everything happens.
Island two: just for sitting. Open underneath, no storage, no clutter.
Just a place to pull up a chair, have your coffee, and actually be in the kitchen without being in the way.
It sounds simple. But it completely transforms how a space feels to live in.
This is the difference between a kitchen that looks good
and one that works for your life.

5 Kitchen Design Choices I Would NEVER Make as a Designer.

A beautiful kitchen isn’t automatically a well-designed kitchen.

After years of designing homes, I’ve learned that some choices may look beautiful in a photo, but don’t necessarily make sense for the way you actually live.

I would never sacrifice function just for a trend.

I would never ignore lighting.

I would never choose an island that’s too small just to make the kitchen feel bigger.

I would never fill a space with open shelving simply because it’s trending.

And I would never design a kitchen without first understanding the people who will use it every day.

Because good design isn’t about creating a kitchen that looks perfect on Instagram.

It’s about creating a space that feels beautiful, intentional, and effortless to live in.

And sometimes, the most important design decision is knowing what not to do.

What if your lower level became the part of your home you never wanted to leave?

For this project, we transformed an entire lower level into a private retreat designed around wellness, entertainment, and effortless hosting.

A fully equipped home gym.
A serene spa with steam shower and sauna.
A custom w**e cellar with a dedicated lounge.
A cinema for movie nights.
And intimate spaces designed for gathering, slowing down, and enjoying the moment.

Every detail was intentional, from the warm architectural lighting to the custom millwork, natural materials, glass, and layered textures.

Because luxury isn’t about adding more.

It’s about creating spaces that make everyday life feel extraordinary.

There’s something about this Encino project that feels effortless.

Warm natural tones.
