5 Kitchen Design Choices I Would NEVER Make as a Designer.
A beautiful kitchen isn’t automatically a well-designed kitchen.
After years of designing homes, I’ve learned that some choices may look beautiful in a photo, but don’t necessarily make sense for the way you actually live.
I would never sacrifice function just for a trend.
I would never ignore lighting.
I would never choose an island that’s too small just to make the kitchen feel bigger.
I would never fill a space with open shelving simply because it’s trending.
And I would never design a kitchen without first understanding the people who will use it every day.
Because good design isn’t about creating a kitchen that looks perfect on Instagram.
It’s about creating a space that feels beautiful, intentional, and effortless to live in.
And sometimes, the most important design decision is knowing what not to do.
