There are a million ways to bring a room together — even when the purpose is the same.

Those first couple years with your baby are A LOT, so creating a nursery that’s functional and brings joy to the parents matters.

Dark rooms can feel daunting to design, but they also offer an opportunity to create something truly special. Reflective tile can amplify available light, while color drenching or a moody mural can embrace the room’s natural atmosphere. Archways, windows, and higher ceilings can also introduce more natural light, bringing balance and dimension to the space.

Tips learned from our recent trip to England 🇬🇧

1. Eat at any and all Ottolenghi establishments. This is less of a suggestion and more of a rule.

2. Countryside walks are everything.

3. Strollers in London are impossible.

4. Windsor (home of Wills & Kate) makes for an excellent day trip.

5. Savill Garden & Adventure Play is an excellent way to spend a day and almost tire out a three-year-old. Almost.

6. Richmond & Richmond Park are every bit as lovely as Ted Lasso says.

7. Do all the museums London has to offer.

With thoughtful landscaping, hardscaping, and furnishings, you’ll find yourself using them just as much as any room inside. This Venice front yard was intentionally designed to blend into the surrounding landscape while creating inviting spaces to lounge, dine, and gather.

The one style I won’t design is one that fights against the inherent character of a home.

A space will never feel quite right when the architecture and interiors are telling two different stories. I once worked with a client who wanted a modern farmhouse bedroom in her Spanish-style home, so instead of forcing a look that didn’t belong, we explored what she loved about modern farmhouse and translated those elements into a modern Mediterranean design that felt authentic to both her style and the home itself.

When designing a therapist’s office, creating a deep sense of safety is essential—an environment where people can fully exhale the moment they walk through the door. Every material, texture, and detail was thoughtfully selected to foster comfort, calm, and emotional grounding.

With views this extraordinary, the design called for restraint. Rather than competing with the landscape, we chose to let it lead—framing the natural beauty beyond the windows and allowing it to become an integral part of the experience. The result is a space that feels connected, restorative, and quietly supportive.
