Our mission is to inspire women to be their authentic selves by using catchy phrases and statements that encourage a positive mindset, promote self-love, spark laughter and offer an on-trend approach to the relaxing flicker of a candle flame. But we don't want you to purchase just any candle. We know that something as small as lighting a candle has the potential to spark some amazing things so each candle is made out of love, fun and excitement for life.
In 2016, the Founder, Tay made the decision to resign from her full-time job to focus on graduate school after her supervisor told her to "Figure it out." You need to come up with a Plan B for your son and think about putting off school." She was expected to stay over-time at short notice despite attending graduate classes at night and her obligations to her then 1 year old son. She decided she no longer wanted to compromise for jobs unwilling to be supportive. Shortly after leaving her job, she learned that she was pregnant with her second child, thus, life lit a flame to her ass to do something about it as this was not a part of her plan. As she prepared for her family’s new addition and was unable to find a job that offered a flexible schedule so that she could remain in school, she was inspired to start a business.
It would take a few months before the idea of a soy candle business emerged but Tay relied on something that she heard at a women's empowerment event, "Our passions are things that we are naturally drawn to and many times are sitting right under our nose but we ignore it." One day, Tay found herself standing in the candle aisle, something she loved to do each trip but this time she noticed how she somehow always found her way to the candle aisle carefully smelling one of life's simple pleasures. But, she couldn't find any candles that spoke to who she was as a woman and she left with the idea that she would create a line of candles that were unlike anything on the store shelves.
For Tay, making candles offered an opportunity for her to have control over her schedule, contribute financially, and continue to pursue her goals. While Tay experimented with soy candle candle making as a hobby in prior years, this time she returned to candle making with the power in knowing that she could do anything she put her mind to. She carefully handcrafted her first soy candle; Boss Girl Magic, a fruity yet boldly fragrant aroma as a tribute to women being the boss of their lives. Tay was 7 months pregnant when she launched Posh Candle Co and months later, she welcomed her second son. By the end of the summer 2017, Tay graduated with her MSW including managing a busy home life, a new career as a mental health professional and growing candle business.
Based in Los Angeles, California, Posh Candle Co. has grown into a fierce candle company. The candle collection, handcrafted with 100% soy wax, hand-poured in small batches using the best fragrance and popping colors, is care free, fun and edgy.

Behind the scenes, Posh Candle Co is a one-woman owned small business built from the ground up on the Founders passion for craft, design, entrepreneurship and desire to create a life she loves.
Tay's enjoys the freedom of creativity and ability to inspire other women to stay lit with 100% soy candles that have catchy phrases and unique scents. When she is not making and burning candles, she enjoys eating her way around Los Angeles with her hubby, taking naps and seeking adventure in the outdoors with her two sons.
