Shapeside Los Angeles Interior Design Firm. Born and raised in New York City, Genna Margolis is currently a Los Angeles based interior designer.

Before creating Genna Margolis Interiors, Genna worked with some of New York and LA's most well-respected designers. Demo and design concepts for one, finishing touches on a few more. Every project is in a completely different phase with tons of annoying logistics to go with it and broken vases along the way. Whatever it’s a write-off 😂.

one room, three spaces — separate enough to feel distinct, connected enough to feel like one home.

The dining room is the most elevated with the finishes: bold abstract wallpaper and ceiling molding. Leading into the living room where the finishes are neutral and the furniture is the focal point. Contrasting club chairs and sculptural a coffee table. Ending in the entry where each piece is a work of art.

That’s the whole formula from our Denslow project. Make sense?!

I’m Genna—founder of Shapeside Interiors.
NYC raised, started in real estate, now 10 years into running my LA-based design firm… which somehow makes me feel both established and like I am just starting at the same time.

I design interiors the same way I get dressed—high/low/vintage, never matchy, always intentional. I care way too much about details most people don’t notice, and it somehow turned into my dream career.

I spend too much money on design and fashion, but I like to tell myself it’s part of the job 😂

I have the best clients (like, really good ones) and a team I genuinely couldn’t function without—Diandra, Gabriella, and Carly.

I’m currently sitting on a lot of projects I can’t show in depth yet (because surprise—these things take forever), so instead I’ll continue oversharing poorly taken iPhone shots on my stories.

On a personal note, I recently lost my dad, which has been really hard and has shifted a lot for me. It’s also why I’m showing up more and putting myself out there (even though I’m cringing a little writing this).

Outside of work—my husband Jon, my son Cole (yes, my maiden name—he’s 5), my daughter Eve (3), and our bernadoodle Yogi run my life… and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
