The recent fires have devastated entire communities in Los Angeles, leaving many homeowners facing unimaginable loss. My heart goes out to every family affected. Charlie and I have spent days collecting toys and goods to donate to families and especially children who have lost everything. I was especially touched that he chose to give toys that he had just received for Christmas to some children that a friend of mine knew had lost everything in the Palisades fire. Many horrible things have come from this tradgedy but I hope that our community can also find some good in it too. Seeing the love we have for each other here in LA really has touched me so deeply these past weeks.
Rebuilding is overwhelming—there’s so much to navigate before even thinking about design. Right now, the focus should be on immediate needs: securing housing, working with insurance, and ensuring your family’s well-being.
