Water damage from an upstairs leaky bathroom was the motivation for this kitchen remodel so when I came on the job there had already been some major demo started. The former kitchen was an eyesore and very cramped with a peninsula and no pantry so we lifted up the ceiling a bit with some steel beams, knocked down a wall, turned the peninsula into an island, and gave the clients a proper pantry. We maximized their storage with hidden pop up cabinets along the top of the long wall and in the side panels of the island. There is a full height appliance garage and the single upper cabinet can home appliances with hidden electrical outlets. Eliminating most of the upper cabinets allowed this small footprint to feel more spacious so we had to be thoughtful with storage placement and painting all cabinets a warm white visually opened the space. Wood cabinets on the island, brass accents, and Saltillo floor tiles warm up all the white. Scroll through for demo and rendering image by
