If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes into designing a room… it’s mostly me with 100 screenshots, boards and IG saves open trying to figure out which idea is the idea. 😂
Here’s a little look at the messy middle, and how I’ve been using Adobe Firefly boards to organize all the inspiration, references, and half-formed thoughts into one clear direction.
My camera roll is a disaster, I have way too many saves open, and there’s usually too many inspo boards for it to even make sense. It’s definitely not the best method but this is the part where the ideas start taking shape!!
Then I dump everything into one place: screenshots, saves, magazine scans, all of it.
Once it’s in a Firefly Board, I can actually start moving things around and seeing what belongs together instead of just staring at 100 random images in my camera roll. My team can jump in and move things around with me too, which has significantly cut down on files named “FINAL_v4_actualfinal.” 😂
Before I formally design anything, I’ll generate a few directions from the moodboard and let the client react to those first. It’s a whole lot easier (and cheaper) to kill a bad idea here than three weeks into sourcing.
And because I’m using Adobe Firefly, I feel better knowing it’s trained on licensed and public domain content…not somebody else’s portfolio getting scraped to build a client concept.

This is the payoff. No six-week back-and-forth. No “this isn’t what I imagined” once we’ve spent weeks sourcing, designing and rendering. When the concept is clear from the start, the rest of the project goes a lot smoother!
