We have a blog!! I actually started this blog, Made By Friendly Folk, last year but never announced it or updated it since. So here’s your invitation to read our second post! (Link in bio)

As someone who cares a lot about brand transparency & being kind & helping each other out, I wrote this article to simply explain metals in jewelry.

Before I went to school and started this brand, I was so confused about metals! I had no idea what made jewelry good or poor quality or worth the price, except when pieces I bought fell apart or turned green—but I didn’t know why! This made me an easy target for overpriced brands, thinking I was getting good quality when I wasn’t always. This doesn’t have to be you too!!

Come with me to make a new earring design :)

I recently put together my first jeweler’s bench setup, and this is the first piece I’ve made with it! A simple dangle earring based on an existing design, but this time much smaller and in metal. I looove how these turned out!!

I’m looking forward to trying out new designs this way and making them available in my shop as one-of-a-kind pieces! These earrings already have a home, but comment below if you want to see more of these in the shop!!

I’ve been wearing this necklace for the past year, and I know I’m biased but it’s my favorite piece of jewelry I own!!! It’s small and precious and the perfect length to stack with longer necklaces. And it’s simple but has just enough detail and color to brighten up my outfits.

All our fully metal jewelry is waterproof and tarnish resistant too! I really care about quality and longevity but at an affordable price point, something I had the hardest time finding for myself.

I noticed that most affordable (and even some super expensive???) jewelry stores use tarnishing metals like brass as their base metal, then plate it with gold or silver. But those pieces end up fading so fast and leaving your skin green or black because of the base metal of copper or brass! Stainless steel will never change your skin’s color, which is why we chose it. The PVD plating process we use makes the plating so much more durable and fade resistant too (think of the durability of like a kitchen faucet!). So our designs aren’t just cute but quality!

Introducing our Silver Snowdrop earrings!! I'm obsessed with their bold but minimalist silhouette and how they dangle. They're also so comfy I always forget I'm wearing them! Keep scrolling to see how it started as a sketch :)

These were actually inspired by a dear friend of mine, Olivia! I was excitedly showing her all my jewelry design sketches, and she told me she was more of a silver girl… I’m a gold girly and totally overlooked how cool silver designs could be!! So I excitedly drew these up with her in mind! (Thank you Olivia!!)

I was also looking at tons of art deco architecture for inspo while drawing these. I have much more art deco looking designs— maybe I’ll show or make them one day— but I landed on this toned-down version for my first collection.

Made with a stainless steel base metal and PVD plated rhodium, these cuties are waterproof and tarnish resistant. They look the same as when I first got them— after a year of wearing them! I’m so happy with the quality and I hope you are too!
