How to seed a pomegranate without all the mess!! ✨

Try this pomegranate hack: cut the pomegranate and do all the seeding in a bowl of water. The seeds sink, the white pith floats to the top, AND your kitchen doesn’t look like a crime scene afterwards with pomegranate juice splattered everywhere 🤭

Then just skim off the pith, drain, and you’ve got clean pomegranate arils ready for salads, charcuterie boards, cocktails, and holiday desserts.

Three months later and they’re perfect - all due to parchment paper and air tight containers! To freeze, arrange the slices in parchment-lined layers inside a freezer-safe container or plastic bag. Remove as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn and they’ll keep for up to 2–3 months! When ready to use, allow them to thaw at room temperature (still on the parchment) until flexible.

A very casual Wednesday afternoon learning sourdough from Nancy Silverton and having my shaping complimented by Jon Davis??!! 🥹

Getting to learn from Nancy felt especially special knowing La Brea Bakery was born right here in Los Angeles more than 35 years ago and has become such a part of the city’s bread history. Thank you La Brea Bakery for inviting me this afternoon!

Have you ever noticed how restaurant butter always tastes better? More often than not, it’s because the butter has been whipped! Pancake houses and steak houses typically serve whipped butter, giving the traditional spread extra rich flavors and a fluffy, spreadable texture.

To make, room temp milk (1 Tbsp) is whisked into room temp butter (1/2 cup) until all of that air transforms the dairy-rich spread into a mix that’s light and fluffy. You don’t need any special equipment or fancy ingredients - ULTRA SIMPLE!
