MIT neuroscientists demonstrated that exposing the brain to light and sound pulsing at 40 Hz can dramatically reduce Alzheimers pathology by synchronising brain-wide gamma waves. This non-invasive stimulation physically recruits microglia, the brains immune cells, to clear out the toxic amyloid and tau protein waste that builds up in Alzheimers disease. Animal models showed nearly 50 percent reductions in amyloid plaques, with early human safety trials now underway. The most striking part is that no drugs or surgery are involved, just a specialised flickering light and acoustic hum that triggers the brains own internal cleaning system.
