Royal Zombie Crafts has a home. 🖤🪶

I’ve always wanted to have a little permanent space where you could walk into a shop and find my strange little creations sitting on the shelves… and somehow, that little dream is now real.

My shelves are officially set up Black Raven Marketplace ™️ 🖤

Seeing everything together like this, lanterns glowing, haunted houses waiting patiently for new residents, tiny paintings on the wall and cabinets ready to be filled with trinkets... it was a bit surreal.

And I genuinely couldn’t have imagined a better home for them. Black Raven Marketplace is such a beautiful space filled with work from so many incredible local artists, makers and wonderfully creative humans, and I’m incredibly happy to be a small part of it.

There’s much more coming as we get closer to the official opening, along with markets, classes and other little bits of mischief I’ll be getting into there.

But for now…

I have a shelf in a real shop. 🥹🖤

That feels pretty cool.

A pause before the world wakes up 🌙🌅

From the last quiet moments of night, to clouds slowly turning pink, to morning light creeping across my desk as the candle burns a little lower.

The day is still a blank page, waiting quietly for whatever comes next.

From one eclipse to another. 🌑🌕

A couple of weeks ago, beneath the new moon and solar eclipse, I tucked herbs and spices into jars of jojoba oil and left them in the dark to slowly work their magick.

Yesterday, beneath the full moon and lunar eclipse, the first four were finally ready. Eucalyptus, clove, cinnamon and peppermint were strained, filtered and poured into their tiny amber homes. 🖤

The rest of my little jars are still tucked away infusing, decidedly not interested in my schedule, but I’m so happy with how this first batch turned out.

From dark moon beginnings to full moon completion. ✨🌿

Even when the clouds hide her, the moon will still do her magick. 🌕✨☁️ 

The forecast may be calling for clouds, so I might not actually get to watch it unfold, but I’ll know it’s happening just beyond them. There’s something calming about that, too. Not everything powerful needs to be seen to be felt. 🖤

So for now, a little eclipse captured on paper while I enjoy the quiet of the morning and plan for the day ahead.

The helpers have informed me that autumn preparations are officially underway. 🍂🎃

Apparently this means climbing into the cabinets one by one and taking up residence wherever they see fit.

I was not consulted.

Management has lost control of the situation.

But the mornings are getting cooler, the shadows are getting longer, and the workshop is slowly shifting toward warm woods, candlelight and all things autumn. So I suppose the pumpkins may continue their work. 

Carry on, tiny seasonal employees. Your dedication has been noticed 🖤

It’s still hot, the sun is still bright, and summer certainly isn’t ready to finish it's reign just yet, but the mornings know.

There’s a lingering coolness in the air, the light feels just a little different, and every now and then you catch that first tiny hint that autumn is waiting just around the corner.

So this morning’s little autumn leaf journal drawing felt appropriate. Just me, the sunrise, and the cats scrambling to take up real estate in the slowly fading sunny spots. 

Summer can have the afternoon. The mornings belong to autumn now. 🍁

Two markets. One very tired maker. And an incredibly full heart. 🖤

This morning, before returning to my desk to work on upcoming orders, I wanted to sit quietly for a moment and simply say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who came by this weekend. To those who took something I made home with them, stopped to look, came over just to say hello, shared stories with me, made me laugh, or spent a few minutes chatting across my table. And thank you to the other artists and makers who make these spaces feel like such a wonderful little community.

For this morning's gratitude offering, I chose a yellow ritual candle for joy, warmth and abundance that I picked up from Ember & Stone / Uptown Whittier Boutique at the market. I surrounded it with full moon salt, in-house dried sunflower, rose, rosemary and thyme, and a little citrine, each chosen as a small expression of gratitude for everything already here. 

No asking for what's next this morning, just honoring what already is.

I came home exhausted.

And very, very grateful. 🌻🕯️🖤
