The things keeping your flowers alive that you’ll never see in a portfolio💼

The cold chain. Farm to wholesaler to our cooler to the truck to your venue. Every handoff is a chance for something to sit in the sun for twenty minutes.

Conditioning time. Stems cut, stripped and hydrated two to three days out. Rushed conditioning is why flowers look tired by the reception.

The backup order. A named substitute for every primary flower, from a different supplier, agreed before anything is placed.

The second timeline. The one with two hours in it that nobody knows about except us.

Who is on site at breakdown, and whether it’s the same team who built it.

None of this shows up in a photograph. All of it decides whether your flowers still look like the photograph at nine at night.

There’s one question I wish every bride would ask about her favorite flower🌸

Because falling in love with a flower is easy. Finding out it’s not available two weeks before your wedding? Not so fun.

If there’s one flower you absolutely HAVE to have, send your florist this:

“I love [flower]. If it’s not available for my wedding date, what would you recommend instead? And how far in advance would I know?”

That last question is the one most brides forget to ask.

A good florist doesn’t just have a backup flower. They have a backup plan, and they know when to bring you into the conversation.

“Why would I spend that much on something that’s just going to die?”

Fair question🤍
But we don’t ask the cake to last forever. Or the dinner. Or the music.

We ask them to make one night feel like our night.
Flowers are no different.

They’re not supposed to last forever. They’re supposed to turn a room you’ve seen before into a room you’ll remember forever.

And figuring out what that should look like .. or what you should even be doing about flowers right now.. can feel like a lot.

Being a good florist doesn’t mean nothing ever goes wrong. It means knowing exactly what to do when something does.

Here’s something I wish every bride would ask before hiring a florist:

What happens if a flower doesn’t arrive?
What’s the backup plan, and who makes that decision?
When would you tell me if something went wrong?

An experienced florist should be able to answer all three with confidence. Because behind every beautiful wedding is a whole lot of problem-solving you’ll hopefully never have to see.

And that’s the way we like it.
