For more than a century, Gracie has created handpainted wallpapers that blur the line between decoration and art. But behind the walls is a family story shaped by collecting, curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep belief in living with what you love.

We sat down with Gracie’s creative director Jennifer Gracie to talk about legacy, Los Angeles, fearless color, and the inspirations that continue to guide Gracie today, from antique textiles to tide pools in Malibu.

Frances Merrill sat down with former team members Ashley Lavonne, Zeb Knudsen, and Leah Ring to talk mentorship, creative risk, and what it really takes to build a studio in Los Angeles. What unfolds is less about a single path, and more about the accumulation of experience, trust, and timing that leads you there.

“Be a kind person to the people that work for you, and they’ll have that same level of communication back.” — Frances Merrill
A reminder that the best studios are built not just on talent, but on trust, openness, and the relationships that continue long after people move on.

A warm welcome to +COOP, the Beverly Blvd. shop from Jenna Cooper, now part of Design LA.

+COOP is the kind of place you can wander into and lose track of time. Shelves filled with vintage finds, small objects, and pieces that feel personal, not overly styled or precious. Everything is chosen with a sharp eye, but still feels relaxed, like a collection that has come together naturally over time.

It’s also a great place to find a gift, something thoughtful, unexpected, and a little more interesting than the usual. A shop built on the idea that the things we live with matter, not just how they look, but how they make a space feel. A natural fit for the Design LA community.

Erik Lindström’s flagship made its debut during Legends, with an opening night that felt immersive, atmospheric, and completely transportive. More than a showroom, it reads like an exquisite home you want to wander through slowly, where every rug has its own moment and each room pulls you in a little deeper.

Designed by Luis Fernandez and inspired by Milanese Brutalism, the gallery pairs strong architectural forms with a warm, tactile palette. Vintage 1970s furnishings and Erik’s personal art collection are layered throughout, creating lived-in moments that invite exploration while giving each rug a distinctly personal presence.

And then there’s the listening room. wall-to-wall silk s**g, velvet-lined in deep oxblood, a space that invites you to slow down and stay a while.

A standout debut in the Hollywood Design District, and a reminder that rugs aren’t just finishing touches, they can carry the whole story.

Visit the showroom at 1010 N. Highland Ave.

Tiny furniture, messy hands, and a whole lot of fun at DesignLA.

Danny D’s Mudshop at Lawson Fenning brought a different kind of energy to Legends, with less watching and more playing. Guided by ceramicist Daniel Doorcek, designers set their notes aside and got into the clay, building their own miniature world to take home.

Inside the Apparatus showroom in Los Angeles, this conversation brought together interior designers Andre Mellone and Robert Stilin, moderated by T Magazine’s Tom Delavan. Together, they reflect on a shift away from decoration toward something more layered and personal, where a home becomes a reflection of what you’ve discovered, loved, and lived with over time.

What makes a good collection is your personal relationship with the things you live with.” - Andre Mellone

A reminder that great interiors are built over time, guided by instinct, experience, and what you’re drawn to, not just what’s expected.

A look back at one of the more intimate moments from Legend.

For the past few years, a private dinner at the Schindler House has become a Legends tradition - and this year, Romo and Lawson-Fenning joined as co-hosts, bringing together designers, editors, and industry voices in one of the week’s more personal gatherings.

Legends gathers a wide mix of the design community, but evenings like this create space to connect more closely - through slower conversations, shared perspectives, and relationships that extend well beyond the week.

Thank you to and for being part of it this year.

More to come, and more ways to get involved next year.

Looking back at Legends – the atmosphere, the energy, the feeling that carried through every moment, it all started with our Chief Clubhouse sponsors.

Thank you to CW Stockwell, Sunbrella, Kravet, Benjamin Moore, Serena & Lily, Newport Brass, Verellen, Soolip, and Andraab for bringing this space to life in a way that felt both effortless and unforgettable. From morning conversations to late night gatherings, you created the kind of setting people didn’t want to leave.

It was vibrant, welcoming, and full of possibility, exactly what this week is all about.

Relive it all through the photos, now live. View and download your favorites through the link in bio. ✨.losangeles
