WHAT IS INTO THE STORM CREATIONS?

We get asked what we carry, what we make, and what makes us different, so we thought it was time to share a little more about who we are and what Into the Storm Creations is all about.

We are a locally owned homestead wellness boutique built around a simple idea: what we put on our bodies, what we bring into our homes, and where we spend our money matters.

At Into the Storm Creations, you’ll find handcrafted, small-batch skincare, hair care, soaps, salves, tallow products, tinctures, natural wellness essentials, and so much more. From everyday moisturizers and nourishing hair products to herbal preparations and traditional remedies, we believe in thoughtful ingredients, quality over quantity, and bringing a little more intention into everyday life.

Local is at the heart of what we do. We believe in supporting our local farmers, makers, and small businesses whenever possible. We incorporate locally sourced ingredients into our handcrafted products where available, including goat milk from a local Valencia County farmer for our goat milk soaps and locally sourced tallow from right here in Valencia County. We also carry products from other local makers, along with local honey, eggs, coffee, seasonal offerings, and unique gifts you won’t find just anywhere.

Just about all of our products are made by hand in small batches, allowing us to focus on the ingredients, care, and purpose behind what we create. We value simple, high-quality ingredients, organic ingredients whenever possible, and knowing as much as we can about what goes into the products we make and offer.

But we are about more than skincare and wellness. We are about community, connection, supporting small businesses, and keeping local dollars close to home. We love bringing people together, highlighting other local businesses, and creating a place where you can discover something new, find a thoughtful gift, or simply stop in and feel welcome.

Read this! Excellent info on lemon balm. We have this tincture in store and online!

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is a medicinal herb from the mint family that contains several biologically active compounds, including rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid, citral, citronellal, and other plant-derived chemicals with antimicrobial properties. Laboratory research has found that lemon balm extracts and essential oils can inhibit or kill various harmful bacteria, including strains associated with food poisoning, typhoid fever, skin infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, bloodstream infections, sepsis, and endocarditis. These include Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella species, and Bacillus cereus. Some of these bacteria cause infections by damaging tissues, producing toxins, or spreading through the bloodstream. Lemon balm's antibacterial activity is thought to involve disruption of bacterial cell membranes, interference with essential cellular processes, and damage to structures needed for bacterial survival.

Across laboratory studies, lemon balm preparations have demonstrated antibacterial activity against at least 13 different bacterial strains, although the exact number depends on the studies and extracts examined. Researchers have tested these effects using methods such as measuring bacterial growth inhibition zones and determining minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs), which indicate how much of an extract is needed to stop bacterial growth. The results suggest that certain lemon balm preparations can suppress bacterial multiplication, while some concentrations may directly kill susceptible bacteria. However, antibacterial effectiveness varies considerably depending on the extraction method, chemical composition, concentration, and bacterial species.

Thursday tip: When it comes to the products you use every day, sometimes simpler really is better.

A long ingredient list doesn’t automatically mean a product is bad, just like a short ingredient list doesn’t automatically make it better. But choosing products made with fewer, thoughtfully selected, high-quality ingredients can make it easier to know exactly what you’re putting on your skin and bringing into your home.

We love ingredients that are organic when possible, locally sourced when available, and chosen for a purpose — not simply added to make a product bigger, brighter, or more complicated.

There’s something special about knowing where your ingredients come from and supporting the farmers, growers, and small businesses behind them.
