The first room she'll ever call home. 🍼🎀✨

Designing a nursery is unlike any other project. It isn't simply about creating something beautiful. It's about creating the backdrop for first mornings, sleepless nights, quiet lullabies, and the countless little moments that become a family's most treasured memories.

For this repeat client in Newport Beach, the vision was beautifully clear: a nursery for their daughter that felt timeless and feminine, grounded in classic design with just a touch of modernity to carry it gracefully through the years.

The most meaningful spaces aren't designed just for a photograph. They're designed for a life well lived. We accomplished both here beautifully.

Designing for an eight year old can be fun yet challenging. The goal is to give them what they dream up in the present while leaving them room to grow into their space. This junior client’s main request - “orange and soft teal with a canopy bed”. We were able to provide everything on her list in ways that were both posh and playful for the present while still maintaining the ability to transition as the space evolves.

This client's principal bedroom was initially dark and leaned towards a masculine aesthetic. Our goal was to create a peaceful haven with a transitional style. We chose a metallic York wallpaper of “birds with blossoms” as the backdrop, and paired it with antique crystal pendants reflected by Gabby mirrors. The wooden-clad tray ceiling adds depth and draws attention to the Visual Comfort crystal chandelier while a hand-woven oushak supports the white-washed canopy bed. The Thibaut Design Ming Trail euros and framed intaglio serve as the perfect finishing touches for this sophisticated space.

This cupola, attached to my client's principal bedroom, was transformed into a sitting area. With a focus on serene pastels, we brightened the space from its original dark grey and purple hues. The limestone fireplace adds sophistication and a touch of European elegance, while the wooden-clad ceiling creates dimension and draws the eye upwards. It's now my favorite space in the entire house, perfect for morning coffees and magical mom moments between my client and her daughter.

This dining transformation proves you can achieve both a colorful and calming aesthetic. The space started all white with a teal and black wallpaper that would have completely altered the continuity between the other rooms connected. So, we sourced a hand-woven baja grasscloth by Brewster to act as the foundation. The beige and blue tones were distributed throughout the room via a cowhide rug, bamboo shades, trim tape curtains, ginger jars, and custom-upholstered seat cushions. The space was anchored with a retro-inspired, marble top tulip-style dining table with brass base. A large, colorful painting added a playful nod to the equestrian lifestyle of these clients while echoing the color of their kitchen island.

I was ecstatic when asked to create an entry for a family of ranchers. The homeowners wanted their foyer to immediately tell the story of their equestrian lifestyle the moment you stepped across the threshold. I was faced with a few challenges though - balancing both the male and female perspective, red clay residue, the need for extra storage, and a place to hang their hats. We turned this white-walled, builder-basic passthrough into an eclectic, modern traditional entry for these Mississippi clients. The entire space was color-drenched in a pale blue by Sherwin-Williams and the ceiling was clad with a The House of Scalamandré wallpaper. We then styled it to include a hat wall and storage ottomans perfect for putting on your boots.

Elevate your home with a modern touch! We took this Charleston, South Carolina home to new heights by transforming it from traditional and coastal to a sleek space that reflects the client's California sensibilities. We used Tricorn Black by Sherwin-Williams to paint the shiplap accent wall in the dining room and echoed the color on the banister rail. Layering textures with simple patterns, we created the perfect backdrop for entertaining!
