If you know, you know. Every plate gets the fingertip test before it earns a spot in the cart. 😂🍽️

Tell me I don’t need another collection🤦🏻‍♀️… I grabbed my first ceramic pie server yesterday.🍓🎂

They’re sweet, functional, decorative, and honestly just make a shelf look happy. I love the idea of mixing different patterns and displaying them together in a cozy kitchen corner.

Anyone else collect these? Are ceramic pie servers collectible in your eyes? 🍰

Today’s thrift cart haul felt a little like holding a piece of American pottery (Ohio) history. I found (4) four Royal China Sussex ironstone dinner plates along with several sunny yellow Jubilee pattern serving pieces by Royal China.

What makes these finds even more special is the story behind the company itself. Royal China was co-founded during the Great Depression (1934) by Beatrice Miller (a female pioneer)👸, who was initially denied a business loan simply because she was a woman. Her male business partner applied for the exact same loan and was approved. Beatrice didn’t let that stop her. She later became president of the company in 1946 and helped build Royal China into one of the most influential American pottery manufacturers of its time.

The company also changed the pottery industry forever when printer Kennith Doyle invented an automatic underglaze stamping machine in 1948. Instead of applying designs by hand using paper transfers (transferware), intricate multi-color patterns could now be stamped directly onto raw clay.

Miller retired in 1969, selling the plant to the Jeannette Glass Company. The factory was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1970 but was completely rebuilt. The company cycled through various corporate owners (including Coca-Cola) before permanently closing its doors in 1986.

It’s amazing how many thrifted pieces can carry so much history with them. 💛

Sneak peek of a few treasures getting loaded into the Flea & Frame online store 👀

We’ve got Enesco, ironstone, soapstone, USA pottery, brass… basically the kind of finds that make you think “I’m just browsing” right before clicking “add to cart”. 😝

I mean, would you rather thrift or laundry 🤷🏻‍♀️? We do what we need to do to go treasure hunting! 🔐🤫😂 ...

Sitting in traffic and thought I would share. 🚖 Suggestions welcome to help make him more noticeable! 🚲 I respect his hustle! He is on the road every morning at the same time I am which leads me to believe he is heading to work. 😬😰

So tonight I finally felt comfortable enough to cut into an old cutter quilt I’ve been saving. 🪡✨

I made this little quilted star pillow and honestly, I’m pretty proud of how it came out. The flower detail was cut from a vintage tablecloth that had staining I couldn’t get out, so instead of tossing it, I gave part of it a new life. That’s the best part about this — even imperfect pieces can become something beautiful again.

This project felt a little scary to start😅, but also really rewarding. I’d love to know your thoughts on it. 🌿
