Ability Weavers

Ability Weavers Handwoven items & weaving supplies. Integrated workplace including adults with autism & special needs Ability Weavers is a unique and fun shopping experience.

At Ability Weavers you will find beautiful handwoven floor covering and decor items created by our weavers. Most of our products are made on site in our open weaving studio. Our weavers would be happy to demonstrate the art form during your visit. Our Lowell store is more than just a store. It is also a purpose-filled work environment including adults with autism and other disabilities. We provide

an integrated work setting in which those with and without disability work side by side and are offered the same wages while contributing to the community in a meaningful way. Together we create beautiful and functional home decor and gift items. All profits are reinvested into the employees of Ability Weavers. Store officially open for business on July 5, 2016. See you then!

We got a huge restock order from Maurice Brassard on Friday. When Erin was hanging out with Eric and I this weekend she decided to help me unpack and put it on the shelf. Her favorite part was the sticker job. 🙂 (We always put a green sticker the 8/2 cotton so it doesn't get confused with anything else.) There was a LOT of stickers to be done!
Thanks Erin Bartkus !

Thank you to the Tom Barton Memorial fund for the thoughtful donation to Ability Weavers.

We weren't able to find a way to privately thank the person or people who helped send us this gift. If you know someone who helped provide this to AW please tell them we greatly appreciate their support.

Ability Weavers has been nominated for the "Best Hidden Gem" of our little town. Would you consider casting your vote for our shop?

We believe we offer something very unique. Our #1 purpose is to create an inclusive employment opportunity for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Together we create hundreds of rugs and thousands of handwoven towels each year. We also support other purpose focused businesses across the USA and beyond. And of course we supply weavers all over the USA with weaving tools and yarns.

If you believe we fit the title of "Best Hidden Gem" in Lowell MI, please vote for us at: https://lowellledger.org/best . You will find us listed under the shopping category, Hidden Gem Retail Shop

Thanks for your support!

Please help us welcome Josh. Today was his first day on the job. He did a great job weaving this rug. Our weavers get to keep their first project, so this one is going home with him.
Welcome to the AW team Josh!

Update: We just sold out of our "Pink Arrow Towels". Thank you for your support for our community! We do have other options online and will be adding more handwoven towels in the next couple days.

Last call for Pink Towels!!! We are down to 6! Thank you all for your support for Pink Arrow Pride. For each of these pink towels sold we are donating $2 to Pink Arow. Pink Arrow raises money to help local families who are going through cancer. Some of the funds go directly to families, some of the fund goes to Gilda's Club and other local cancer support organizations. Over the past several years over $2 million has been raised to support people in our community!

If you would like to purchase these special towels you will find them at: https://abilityweavers.com/collections/towels

Thanks for supporting both Ability Weavers and Pink Arrow!

UPDATE: I just found one more!!!

Leaves and Spice Tea is now available in our store on Main Street.

If you are looking for a tasty beverage without all the chemicals and sugars found in other drinks this is a great option. It can be served hot or cold. We have 7 natural flavor options to choose from. My favorite is "Sweet Dreams" which is caffeine free and helps me unwind.

These beautifully packaged teas make great gifts and pair very well with other gift items in our store.

Leavesandspiceteacompany is a local company founded by Grace K right here in the Lowell area. Thanks Grace! They are great. Planning to try Blooming Jade next!
