BEE SKEP
History: Skeps were the primary method for keeping honeybees across Europe and early America from antiquity until the mid-19th century. They were largely phased out after the invention of modern moveable-frame wooden hives.

The dome shape helped to shed rain, and some historic examples feature protective exterior mud or dung coatings to insulate the hive against harsh weather.
So there’s a little info. This particular beautifully woven one I found is 17” tall with some original mud on the outside. I love the look. A great alternative to a basket but with the same feel…and what a cool piece of history. An authentic unique find.

A recent project for a customer…what a transformation!

Warmth.
Warmth is the word that comes to mind after stepping back to look at this vignette. The warm tones from the wood of the French antique chairs to the darker toned wood of the simple style and design of the antique English table which marries well into the gilded floor easel and frame which then accents the colors of the art bringing your eye to the colors of the book.
(Lots of words there. The former writing teacher in me wants to go back and edit edit edit —but we’ll put this in the creative writing category and leave it alone).

I get asked quite often “do you ever keep what you find?” The answer is yes especially if it’s something that really grabs me like this small antique Wedgewood perfectly imperfect stained and crazed gravy/cream pitcher in the greatest plum color with gold trim.
Being in between homes has its advantages especially for my customers since I don’t have the space to bring in larger items…but the small treasures…those are fun to put to good use with an English Ivy or silverware holder or even makeup brushes. No sense in hiding this kind of beauty in a cabinet!

A gorgeous French style light went up today along with a very large Aidan Gray that is just as gorgeous without the large price.

I love the details on this one from the amber crystals to the gilded layers. The perfect size for a breakfast nook, nursery, small office or bedroom.

Such a beauty.
