Hello everyone!! Sorry I've been MIA for a while, life took me for a ride over the winter 😅 at the end of last fall's market season I was feeling pretty run down and burnt out so I took a break from making anything in my studio. But I'm finally feeling inspired again! I have lots of new ideas to try out, we'll see how those go 😁 There have also been some big changes going on behind the scenes that I'll be able to tell you about very soon, so keep your eyes open! In other news, we're heading into the 2026 Spring Market season! My first market will be this Saturday April 11th at Rustburg High School from 10am-3pm. It's $5 per person at the door, children 12 and younger get in for free! All the proceeds go towards BARCC and the new Campbell County animal shelter. This is a wonderful indoor event with 50+ vendors and food trucks, you won't want to miss this!

✨ Meet the Potter behind The Potted Poodle ✨

Hello, my name is Bethany and I run The Potted Poodle! Here is the Cliff Notes version of my story 😁

I was born and raised in Rustburg VA, which is just 10 minutes south of Lynchburg. For my 9-5 job I am the head foreman for our family owned pool construction company. I've been working here since the summer of 2019, and I love my job. My 5-9 job is making pottery. As a kid , my mom signed me and my sister up for summer classes at a local studio. I remember being obsessed with it! We did many classes where we made ornaments, plates, turkey maracas, coil vases, pinch pots, and so much more. Then I was really introduced to the world of pottery in the fall of 2018 in a college art class. I quickly learned that college wasn't meant for me so I moved home after the 2019 spring semester. At that point I had fallen in love with pottery and knew it was my passion. I wanted to continue doing it, so I found a community studio downtown, the same one I went to as a kid! I've been going there every Thursday night since, which will be 6 years this May! I have met and made some amazing friends there (you know who you are 😉). I also have a small studio and 2 kilns at my lovely parents' home, which I'm beyond thankful for! I have really big plans for my studio and business this year 😁. I started selling pottery the summer I came home from college. If you know me personally, then you know I don't like to socialize with big groups, but I absolutely love participating in markets. I love getting to meet everyone and seeing many returning customers! I have some great markets coming up this spring so keep an eye out for those!

RAKU FALL 2024 COLLECTION 🍂
I had four bigger vases in this Raku workshop. One I used horsehair, one I used peacock feathers, and the other two were Raku glazes. I am THRILLED with the results! I've said it before and I'll say it again, Raku is addicting! Items will be available soon 👀

Come out for a fun-filled day of local food trucks, music, pumpkin painting, dancing, wood carving, blacksmithing, hearth cooking, cannon firing, and more live demonstrations throughout the day!
