✂️I cut as much as I could yesterday to extend the season for a few days.

We have fresh Bouquets on the stand today!

There was a bit of frost so we shall see what tomorrow brings. It was only heavy damage here and there. We might still get a few bouquets with dahlias.

Our next round or two might be eucalyptus with cosmos and celosia with just a few dahlias if there are undamaged ones to cut.

Bought 4 tubers after all the fields were planted.
1 was bought from another small grower. The tuber was sound and healthy looking.
3 were from another grower. No discount, no mention of tubers being in less than perfect condition. They arrived shriveled and definitely in questionable shape in terms of viability.
I literally walked towards the garden as the boxes were being opened and planted them immediately.

To my surprise I have 4 plants. This is the first bloom to open. 3 of the plants took a very long time to begin growing.

No, I did not dig them up to check on them. I waited, albeit impatiently, slightly painful and with many trips out there to stare at the mulch covered ground to see even the slightest bit of green growth.
I may not get blooms on them all this season, but I will divide and grow them on time next season.

I ordered these cones specifically for this purpose.
I tuck the newly planted plants up inside then my helper/hubby helped spread the mulch.
Once we have a decent layer of mulch I pop the cones out and we are done other than a bit of raking on the edges.
I really do not like fighting to find the small plants after mulching.

I have a love/hate relationship with fall. I absolutely love the weather, the fall leaves and gosh do the flower gardens look glorious! It however also means the season for gardens is coming to an end.
