Well between the weather and snacks on the table, we didn’t get much fashion show in. We did get show and tell from these two lovely ladies though. Always interesting to hear about the maker’s thoughts while they were working, the reason behind the color choice, who the recipient will be and of course the yarn chicken played ( speaking of chicken - we won’t discuss any “fowl” language that may have happened! ) See what I did there?😉 Hope everyone had a great Worldwide Knit in Public Day!

First I want to say THANK YOU to all who were able to make it out to the River to River Crawl (and thank you also to those who were thinking of us and reached out to say they couldn't make it this year but were looking forward to future crawls, just to know you were thinking of us was awesome!)

Don't forget, tomorrow is not only the last day of the River to River Crawl, it's also Worldwide Knit in Public Day. I know I have been bad about not posting since we've been posting so much about the crawl, but we still plan to have our normal WWKIP day activities. We will be doing the show and tell/fashion show (both??) depending on what the group decides. Be sure to bring all your recent finishes to show off! Of course we will have treats (when do we ever not have treats LOL) We will also be doing the drawings for our shop's grand prizes and we will be sending in the names to Erin at The Fiber Universe so she can do a random computerized drawing to select our Yarn Crawl grand prize winners (that may take a day or two so please have patience with us on that 😁Looking forward to visiting, snacking and showing off with all of you tomorrow !!!

Yay!!! Today’s the day - the start of the first ever River to River Yarn Crawl.

Every shop will have a unique to their shop stitch marker and skeins of yarn, hand dyed just for their shop, by Snow Globe Fibers.

Each shop has models of their yarn worked up so you can see how pretty they are. AND Hava from The Yarn house also created a pattern that incorporates all 4 colorways!

Come grab your passport and begin your journey!

June updates:

OMG can you believe this Friday (June 5th) is the start of our first ever yarn crawl😍You really need to come say hello and be sure to visit all the shops. The last day of the crawl (Saturday, June 13) is also Worldwide Knit in Public Day. We will be having our usual gathering with plenty of snacks and of course our fashion show. I know many of you have completed some beautiful things this year so why not come show them off! I will post more details about the timing of the fashion show next week. I'm working on a possible scenario for those who would love to show off their items but might not be available during the day or time of the fashion show. Let me know if you're interested.
Also coming up - and sorry for the short reminder notice- Our Stitch of the Month series is still going. Since the crawl is this weekend, I will be moving the crochet group to June 18 with times at either 2-3:30 or 5:15 -6:45. We will be working on the Waffle Stitch
Hava will be here June 20 at 11:00 for the knitting group. She will be helping you learn the Honeycomb Stitch.

A heads up with the shop hours for the River to River Yarn Crawl.

The Bird’s Nest will be open regular shop hours:
Tuesday-Friday 9:30-5 and Saturday 9:30-3:00 but will also be open 9:30 - 3:00 on Sunday June 7 and Monday June 8 to allow everyone a little extra time to join us. Also, here at The Bird’s Nest; we will be winding up the crawl with our usual Worldwide Knit in Public Day activities.

The Yarn House in Nauvoo will be open Monday- Saturday 10:00 - 6:00.

The Fiber Universe in Peoria will be open Tuesday and Friday 10:00-5:00; Wednesday and Thursday 12:00-8:00 and Saturday 10:00-3:00

Stitch ‘n Smile in Burlington, IA is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00-5:00 and Saturday 10:00-4:00

Another update -sorry, just too much going on to fit in one post!

We made it back from the trade show and have several fun new products coming. There is, or will be very soon, somewhere close to 100 items new to the shop and several items being restocked as well.

We also have plenty of options for your Fourth of July stitching projects. July will be here before you know it so this is a great time to get started!

June will be a busy month so I’m getting a jump on the updates😊

June 4 will be our Stitch of the Month crochet (you will be doing the Waffle stitch) The knitting group date is TBD (you will be doing the Honeycomb stitch) Please let us know if you’re interested in either one.

June 5-13 is the River to River Yarn Crawl. The crawl has a page so be sure to check it out and share it with your friends!!!

June 13 also Worldwide Knit in Public Day. We will be having our annual hangout with snacks and possibly a fashion show and games depending on what everyone decides they’d like to do.

June 25-28 is Macomb Heritage Days. Be sure to drop by and see us while you are enjoying the downtown activities. We are planning to have a sidewalk sale ( assuming we have any yarn left after the crawl😜)

Oh and just in case you think all I do all day is knit and crochet…there is also new products that have to be put away!
New to the shop - Hayfield Bonus Super Chunky. We currently have 22 colors with plans for a few more.
We also got in 5 new colors of the Jewelspun Ombré big balls (seriously - these things are as big as your head!) There are several fun patterns to go with them that only use 1 - 2 balls
