Seamstress? Sewist? Sewer?

Whatever you call me… I’m pretty sure SEWCIOPATH is the most accurate. 😂🧵✂️

I’m happiest when I’m surrounded by fabric, thread, patterns, and at least three projects I absolutely did not need to start. 🤣

Sewing has been part of my life since I was little, and after all these years, I still get excited watching a pile of fabric turn into something I created with my own two hands.

And yes… I will probably interrupt you to say, “LOOK HOW COOL THIS IS!” while showing you some tiny sewing detail I’m ridiculously proud of. 😂

Here’s to another project… because apparently I don’t know how to stop. ❤️

I learned to sew when I was just five years old, inspired by my mom, who lovingly made so many of our clothes—including this orange blossom dress that she sewed and embroidered for me. 🧡 Watching her and my sisters create made me want to do the same, and looking back now, I love knowing that this is where my own lifelong love of making things began. 🧵✂️💕

My favorite has to be this jacket I made for my son. ❤️

He wanted a jacket to wear during his water polo games, and of course I said, “I can make that!” What I didn’t realize was just how much of a challenge it would be—especially since it was the very first jacket I had ever made AND I decided to tackle it all in one weekend! 😂

The pattern pieces were so big that I had to spread everything out on the floor to cut them, which naturally meant our doggy had to join in and supervise the whole process. 🐾✂️

I may not enjoy sewing clothes for myself, but I had an absolute blast making this for him. There’s just something extra special about creating something for someone you love—and seeing him wear it made every challenging moment worth it. 💙

My very first sewing project was a skirt, but before my mom let me tackle that, she had me spend lots of time sewing on paper and following the lines. 🧵✂️ I guess all that practice paid off!

The photo is of the very first bag I ever made. It was from a Vogue pattern, and I made it about 25 years ago! Looking at it now, I can definitely see how much I’ve learned and grown over the years.

Even after all this time, I still get excited every time I sit down at my machines and start a new project. There’s just something so satisfying about watching a piece come together.

And I’m pretty sure my boys are tired of hearing me say, “Look how cool this is!” every time I figure out a new technique or finish something I’m proud of. 😂 But I have a feeling I’ll never stop saying it! ❤️🧵

🧵 It’s National Sewing Month! 🧵

Aaronica Cole | ATL Sewing Instructor on Instagram posted a fun calendar of daily sewing prompts for September. I missed yesterday, so I figured I’d just roll Day 1 & Day 2 into one post! 😄

✨ My Sewing Story + My Favorite Thing to Make ✨

Sewing has always been a part of my life, although what I love to make has definitely changed over the years. About 10 years ago, I really fell in love with bag making, and I’ve been hooked ever since. 👜❤️

There’s just something about the whole process that I love—starting with the fabrics, deciding which pattern will bring them to life, choosing all the little details, and then watching it slowly turn into an actual bag.

And somehow, even after all these years, when I finish one I still step back and think, “Wow…that really came together!” Then, of course, I’m immediately ready to start the next one. 😂

I think that might be my favorite part of sewing—the excitement of seeing an idea come to life and knowing there’s always another project waiting. 🧵✂️

Here’s to a whole month of sewing, creating, and probably adding way too many new projects to my list! 💕

Today’s creative project was all about playing with fabric and seeing where it took me! 🧵✨

I started with a stack of 9" x 9" fabric squares and no real plan—just randomly sewing them together, cutting them apart, rearranging, and repeating until I loved what I had created. Sometimes the best projects are the ones you don’t overthink! ❤️

Now that the quilt top is finished, I’ve decided it’s destined to become quilted tote bags! 👜 I can already picture how fun each one will be with its own unique patchwork design.

Stay tuned… there’s more cutting, quilting, and sewing to come! ✂️🧵💕
