New program features and some needed changes to older ones. Tonight I sit hear trying to unlearn old ways while I embrace the future and the ease of use that will come with it hopefully. The problem lies in the fact that my mind isn't in the learning mood right now.

I was curious to see how the new enclosure was going to preform even though the side gaskets for the door aren't installed yet. I did a 20 minute test burn on some scrap pine. The smoke only exited through the exhaust vent, nothing in the shop at all! In the video looking at the front, I turned the fan off and let it burn for 4 minutes then restarted. The setup took just over a minute and a half to catch up.

For the most part while the machine cuts I work on files. The enclosure took away a lot of the sounds I listen for to tell what the machine is doing and even though there is a window, the visibility from a distance isn't the same. Next upgrade will be a camera inside to make monitoring easier.

I find when doing these, too much detail just turns into noise. There is a balancing act between making things accurate to the photo and making them pleasing to the eye. I definitely don't have it down to a science yet bet I fell that with each new project I get a little better. Seems like this is a good stopping point for this one.

Twenty twenty-four has been full of changes for us here at WoodYouLookAtThat so far. Some have been exciting and some have been sad, but that's life right? You just have to keep digging.

One particular change that affected both our family and the business in a huge way was a move. This caused more downtime than I had hoped for but as of tonight I am confident in saying we are back.

Hot off the machine which performed flawlessly, I present for your viewing pleasure "Front Porch". A memorial to my best friend who recently passed, Mr. Harry Lee Watts. Please excuse the alignment. I am undecided on if I want to add color or not, that's why it's not glued together yet.

It seems upon closer examination on the computer monitor a few vectors didn't come out quite right. That's my fault. I'm gonna chalk it up to being a bit rusty. Flaws and all, I will always consider this the most valuable piece of art I own.

The WYLAT farmhouse calendar is starting to take shape. I am not terribly happy with one or two design aspects but they are easy enough to change. We went with a worn, distressed look on this one. Mind you this isn't a finished piece yet. Also throwing around the idea of offering a version with drawers in the bottom in place of the tray along with personalization options. It's kind of large but much smaller and the text would be too small we felt. Measures just under 21.75" long by 5.25" wide by 14.5" tall.
