Our Knife Skills Classes almost always sell out right away, so it’s weird that we have ONE space available for Thursday, May 14 from 6:30-8:30. Does two hours of hands-on training with two experienced culinary instructors in a group of seven other people sound meaningful to you?

We had a couple customers in a row this morning who expressed concern and confusion that only women were staffing the store today, so we came up with a solution. I’m not saying it’s a great one, but it’s what we came up with.

In other news, one of the men who works here (the first employee I hired 10+ years ago, when I took over the store) is leaving us soon for an amazing opportunity. We’re VERY happy/sad about the whole situation. We’re looking for a part time (every Saturday and one or two regular days a week) employee who wants to stick around, and would enjoy being part of our shenanigans. If you do not have a mustache, one can be provided to you. Seriously, message us here if this is a conversation you’d like to have.

My favorite part of this interaction in the Brookfield store (which you should totally check out when you’re in the area) is that both of us, independently bought the same “goose with knives” shirt. This is neither the piece of apparel, nor the coworker I guessed I’d accidentally “twin” with. 🤣🪿🔪

Plan A: Don’t use your bread knife to cut dog bones.
Plan B: Go to Wisconsin Cutlery & Kitchen Supply and ask them to fix your mistake, and make your bread knife work even better than it did when it was new.
