Dawn at the peak of Mt. Haleakala is a sight to behold. 10,023 feet above the ocean, above the clouds themselves, the sun arrives to create a new day. Haleakala translates as “House of the Sun” and this piece is a tribute to the glory of the rising sun above this giant volcanic mountain. The Koa Peak was carved and the bronze Sun was fabricated and finished inside of it joining them forever. It’s a new technique and it gave beautiful results.
