What does timeless sophistication and rustic charm have to do with 10,000 lbs of storage?

Well, the first is hard to replicate with modern design, which is why antiques like this from @‌Obsolete are worth the investment. The second part is what’s headed my way this week, and it's full of treasures from my life that might just find their home at Obsolete some day.

I love that Obsolete is preserving history and passing stories on. We have so many pieces we’ve collected from other people’s pasts, which are now a part of ours, and I can’t wait to uncover them all. In the market for a rug? To add warmth and texture to any space, keep these things in mind while shopping 👇

✴️ Size. Measure before you shop and pick something right in the sweet spot. Go too small and things feel disjointed, and anything too large can overwhelm a design.

✴️ Style. Go with something that complements what you already have going on.

✴️ Texture. This is a big one and it’s all about variety. You can go plush, rough, or coarse, just pick something that has the feel you want while adding depth to your design.

✴️ Color. If your design is neutral, add a pop of color with a bold rug. For designs that have plenty of color already, anything that complements your existing palette will work.

Art doesn’t have to hang on walls! Install a sculpture instead. It’s a great way to create a focal point that adds height, texture, and dimension to a room.

Shop for different materials and sizes, and then experiment with placement until you find something you love.

has me sitting here thinking about the amazing experiences I’ve had around the world.

Reminiscing over my expat days definitely gives me a little wanderlust, but also makes me realize how grateful I am to be able to design for other expats.

So, today, instead of racking up more items on my bucket list, I’m feeling grateful for all I’ve experienced so far, both through my own travels, and through those “mini-vacations” I get working on client homes.

So thank you! Thank you to everyone I’ve worked with, and for sharing your stories with me so I could help build it into your homes.
