My father started The 1812 Shoppe in 1970 in Sacketts Harbor, NY, one of the historic Lake Ontario naval sites of the War of 1812, and company namesake. He started out finishing, refinishing, repairing, & re-upholstering furniture. He dreamed of having a more substantial workshop and making furniture; a dream that, unfortunately, went unfulfilled before his sudden and untimely death. I spent my ch
ildhood helping my father in his shop; he taught me how to use tools and I started making things out of wood there; my Uncle Ken was a talented woodworking hobbyist who was also an inspiration for me. These two men kindled my passion for working wood. For nearly 25 years I have been working wood, investing in and equipping my own shop. Now located in Chautauqua County, NY where the first naval battle of the War of 1812 took place just offshore on Lake Erie, it is fitting that The 1812 Shoppe should live on there. Today, The 1812 Shoppe produces high quality home decor, furniture, and architectural wood products, continuing to be defined by the same important principles demonstrated by my father – a thorough personal touch, quality workmanship, and attentive customer service. I offer my own product designs as well as custom builds.
