Folks, I’m thinking I need to identify myself properly to this group, which I forgot to do when I joined under this name. This is Barbara Davis, not a well-known figure in bead circles, but not completely unknown, either. I have been away from beads for the last 5 or 6 years but am now resuming my passion and my business. I have bought and sold beads on eBay, since 2001, nder the names Crude.Rooster (a tribute to Peter Francis, whose description in his book of my favorite Millefiore bead as having a “crude rooster design” inspired my eBay seller ID) for several years, then changed my name to Chevronika, then, more recently, to africantradebeadz. I went on a mad, drunken dash around Santa Fe with Peter and some other bead fiends a few years before Peter’s tragic and untimely death. I was terrified but extremely privileged to share a meal and lots of laughter with a large group of The Bead Greats (my term) in Tucson in 2015 or 2016. Joy might remember which year that was. In any case, I’ve said some things in two recent posts that unintentionally caused offense, so I thought I should at least tell you who’s saying the stupid things. This is a recent portrait of me and a picture I dearly love, taken at the Friendship flea market (where I was buying beads from the wonderful African sellers who used to show up there) in around 2003. Please accept my apologies for the misstatements in my recent posts, and please do help me in identifying some of my beads. Jamey Allen taught me the importance of getting it right. Peace.
