A peak into final selections for something special coming to Lake Burton.

We’re honored to that Duffy Scott Interiors was selected as the spec designer for the 2026 Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Burton Showhouse alongside architect Lew Oliver and builder McKinney Builders at Burton Community.

From June 4–14, this stunning showhouse will open its doors for tours—offering a look inside a home intentionally designed to celebrate life on the lake through layered detail.

Enjoy a small glimpse of the behind-the-scenes momentum as everything begins coming together in preparation for the event. Watching a home transform at this stage always feels a little like magic. Shout out to Thibaut for sponsoring us with rugs and textiles for our Living, Dining, & Kitchen spaces.

We can’t wait to share more soon. In the meantime, grab your tickets and come explore this incredible showhouse with us this June. ✨

Last week I spent a few inspiring days in Laguna Beach on a Pfister Immersion Trip—connecting with an amazing network of designers, sharing ideas, and soaking up plenty of coastal inspiration along the way.

Though I can’t share all the behind-the-scenes I was lucky enough to see at Pfister, let’s just say I left very excited about what’s ahead. There are some beautiful new Pfister products on the horizon, and I can’t wait to start incorporating them into upcoming projects.

A huge thank you to Pfister, PDI Kitchen, Bath & Lighting, and Beth Moon for such a thoughtful and inspiring experience—and for bringing together such an incredible community 💕 ☀️

In the primary suite of this Marietta home, we carved out a small sitting area that opens to a balcony just beyond. There’s a swing just outside, which makes it an easy place to start the morning with coffee or wind down at the end of the day.

Adding seating in a bedroom can completely change how the space is used. Instead of being just a place to sleep, it becomes a place to pause, read, or step away for a few quiet minutes.

If you’re thinking about incorporating a seating area into your own primary suite, a few things help it feel intentional:
*Place seating near a window, balcony door, or natural light so it feels purposeful.
*Think in small groupings like a chair and ottoman, two chairs, or a chaise with a side table.
*Bring in softness through upholstery, pillows, or a throw to add comfort and texture.
*Anchor the area with a small rug, side table, or floor lamp to define the space.
*Leave breathing room so the corner feels relaxed rather than crowded.

Bedrooms are some of our favorite spaces to design! If you’re planning a new build, renovation, or simply want your bedroom to feel more considered and complete, we would love to help bring it to life.

With so many new faces here lately, I wanted to take a moment to introduce (or reintroduce) myself. I’m Kate Duffy, principal designer at Duffy Scott Interiors.

My work centers on full-service interior design for custom new builds, renovations, and full-home furnishings, with every project designed to feel layered, thoughtful, and unique to the people who call it home.

Our approach starts with classic design principles, then plays with color, texture, pattern, antiques, and art to create homes that feel personal, collected, and timeless.

What I love most is working closely with clients to shape homes that truly reflect how they live, gather, and entertain.

We’re currently working on projects throughout Atlanta, Marietta, Chastain Park and Lake Burton — and always welcome opportunities to travel for special projects!

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’re following along. You can explore our work further using our link in bio.

Pass the smelling salts.

If Catherine Earnshaw had this room, we suspect fewer midnight moor sprints and more dramatic fainting spells on a properly upholstered chaise. Heathcliff brooding at the window? Draw the curtains. Adjust the throw. Recover with dignity.

We’re curious - are you seeing the remake? And if Catherine had a room like this, would Heathcliff have stood a chance?

A quiet study in balance.
Warm wood, cool marble, soft white, and a touch of brass - nothing flashy, everything intentional.
The kind of bathroom that feels calm at any hour of the day.

For many years, we’ve had the privilege of working side by side to build Duffy Scott Interiors, shaping a design practice rooted in collaboration, creativity and thoughtful work. Together, we established the foundation of our interiors studio and that vision continues to guide our team, our process and the projects we bring to life today.

As part of this next chapter, Christy is officially retiring on March 1 to step into a new season focused on her grandchildren and family, and her favorite role yet, Lolli (aka: grandma) 💛

Christy has always said, “Not every rule is meant to be followed” and that same fearless, playful spirit has shaped Duffy Scott Interiors into what it is today: a design practice with a distinctive style, a playful approach to design and a willingness to do things differently.

While Christy is stepping back from day-to-day involvement, her influence, creativity and care will continue to live on through our work and our team. You may still see her popping by from time to time as she will always be a part of the Duffy Scott family.

We move forward with deep gratitude for what we’ve built together and genuine excitement for what’s ahead. Duffy Scott Interiors will continue forward under Kate’s leadership, carrying on our commitment to thoughtful design, fine art, curated décor, found goods and the collaborative relationships we value so much.

Who else is dreaming of summer sunshine?
After a week of freezing temps, we’re more than ready for warm days and open doors.
Hang on—it’s coming.
