How to use tacky sublimation paper, in 4 steps. 📄

1️⃣ Print: print your design on a sublimation printer like the Sawgrass SG500 or Epson F170
2️⃣ Place: lay it face down on white or light polyester
3️⃣ Press: 385°F for 45–60 seconds for most fabrics. The tacky coating holds it in place, so it won’t shift.
4️⃣ Peel: only the ink transfers, so there’s nothing to w**d

One tip that saves blanks: times vary by fabric and press, so test on a scrap piece before your first real shirt.

Here lie the print shop horrors. 🪦 Every maker has buried at least one.

🔄 The unmirrored print: backwards text, forever.
Fix: double-check that “mirror” is on before you hit print.

👻 The ghosted shirt: it moved. We all saw it.
Fix: tacky paper, heat tape, and open the press smoothly.

📄 The last sheet of paper: 11:58 PM, mid-order.
Fix: pick a reorder point before you hit zero.

🧪 The skipped test print: “It’ll be fine,” they said.
Fix: run one test on scrap before the real blank.

Small printer, big design? Here’s the trick. 🎃

Doug’s wife wanted a Halloween shirt, cute, not creepy. The design was too big for the Sawgrass SG500’s 8.5" x 11" paper. So he split it in two.

How it works:
1️⃣ Break your design into two 8.5x11 prints
2️⃣ Press part one: 370°F, 30 seconds, medium pressure, hot peel
3️⃣ Cover part one with a silicone or parchment sheet
4️⃣ Press part two right next to it

One big design, no 11x17 printer needed (but you can always check out the Sawgrass SG1000). That’s the Sawgrass VersiFlex system on a 100% cotton tee.
