Quick story about why speed matters:
Out of town customer wants a specific type of mattress
But wants to try it first
Could be a big order
So I told him to look up the authorized retailers in his are on the manufacturer's website
He told me he called 3 stores that were listed and none of them carried the product
What did I do?
Found all 11 stores in area and called.
Not a single one had product to try.
So I texted him and let him know. "I'd love your business, but I can't help with this particular product."
Took me a few minutes. Got him an answer quickly and closed the loop.
Most would have just said "not my problem to call competitors for this guy" and ghosted him.
One of my main goals is giving customers clarity - even if it's bad news.
I bet he'll remember the effort I put in and call me next time.
He's not a buyer right now - but next time he'll probably try me first.
