Hello Friends!
This message is a reminder for those of you that will be attending our Fall Retreat at Blue Licks October 21st-24th.

You can start setting up your sewing area on Wednesday anytime after 9am. You can sew through Saturday late evening.

Please sign in with the Apron Strings representative after you’ve set up your area. Some combination of Janet, Suzie, and Helen will be at Blue Licks during the days. Andrea will be keeping the shop open if you want to stop in for a visit, and Mary will be making trips back and forth between locations. If you need something brought to you from the shop, let one of the Apron Strings folks know what you’d like.

There will be a cutting station and pressing station in each room.
You just need to bring your sewing supplies along with whatever projects that you plan to work on.

We will be distributing goodie bags to all paid attendees on Thursday after lunch. If you don’t plan to be there by Thursday afternoon, please let us know.

New to this retreat:

On Thursday at 3:30 we will have an informal show and tell session upstairs. If you have time, we would love to see your most recent “favorite project”. *Donated Prizes will be given away during the show and tell. *

We will be having a fat quarter jackpot drawing on Friday evening at 5:30
If you would like to be a part of the drawing, please bring one fat quarter with you to add to the jackpot. We will be starting the jackpot with a donated fat quarter bundle.

We will also be playing some quick fire quilting challenge games for prizes throughout the retreat. Announcements will be made in each room prior to the start of the games.

Retreat Prizes for the games and Show & Tell were donated by our friends at QT Fabrics and Riley Blake Designs. Many thanks to them for the thoughtful gifts to make your retreat a little more fun!

Our last Challenge Yourself 2026 event is here! The “New Friends” Contest will have 25 participant spots available. Registration cost is $15. Prize will be an Apron Strings gift basket worth at least $150.

Sign-ups are open, and run through October 1st or until spots are full.

Each registered participant will receive one piece of the Aloha Girl fabric and the Mendota pattern. Participants are challenged with pairing the focus fabric with “new friends”. This means you cannot use any other pieces of Fig Tree designed fabric. Otherwise, you can use anything from your stash, or a new purchase (from us or any other shop) as long as it’s not a Fig Tree designed print.
Completed quilts must be made using the focus fabric and the provided pattern. It must be complete - quilted, bound, and labeled. You will also need to physically bring your completed quilt into Apron Strings Quilt Shop to be photographed on or before November 14th 2026 in order to be eligible for the Facebook vote. Facebook voting will begin on November 20th, 2026.

Hey quilt shop friends! Mary here. I just wanted to give a huge shout out to my team. They have been rock stars - even during the last week of the All Kentucky Tennessee Shop Hop and a prep week for the upcoming Mystery Harvest Shop Hop.

My family has had a challenging few days this week. There has been some scary health issue moments with my sweet mama, immediately followed up by my brother, aunt, and cousin being involved in a wreck that although bad, could have been so much worse. The girls stepped right up and gave me the freedom to leave the shop in their hands and not think twice. I've been able to focus on caring for, worrying about and praying for those folks that have taken care of me for years.

Hugs to you all, - and thanks for being awesome. :)
P.S. - Thanks to the hubby for always being around when I need your calm steadiness. Love you!
