Moodboard Monday with no shortage of Palm Beach+ Terra Cotta+Schumacher+ 80’s vibes floating around as we enter summer.

I’m loving the place we are in in the design and fashion industry. Brimming with color! More and more people are becoming less afraid of using color in their home and I’m so proud!

We have three new ‘al la carte’ services being piloted for summer starting June 1st, that I’m so excited about. Sharing in stories soon. ⛱️

In the mean time, my cute kids get out of school in 2.5 days and I’m both thrilled and slightly terrified. They’re in their first “I’m so bored phase” season of life. Only takes about 90 MINUTES for them to finally get creative and start playing make believe. Worth it to see them in that mode——but GOD SPEED DURING THE WHINING.🤣🤣🤣

What a transformation this historic Dallas home has been through! So much history, so many technical details to figure out with our Architect+Engineers and Builder so that we could raise ceilings and move loads safely, within the numbers projected, and within constraints of the strict historic district. 😅

The Client’s specifically bought this home instead of some of the other M street homes that were already renovated so that they could make it exactly how they wanted throughout out the design and Reno process.
I went with them before it was even purchased and walked through. It is now nearly unrecognizable aside from the charming historic notes that were left in tact.

The home owner’s style is a hint glamorous and moody, a few layers of antique delight, blended with the clean and slightly more modern feel you see above. And of course, their favorite color is blue 💙

We’ll be sharing more about this home as we share the other rooms in the next few weeks—but this breath of fresh air from a once teeeeeny tiny bathroom (that we gutted down to the rafters) makes me smile every time I see it.

Love this “lived in” shot of the bar sent from the Owners of our M-street project after some Vday celebrating.

They had a fast sell of their previous home, and needed to be in this home before we were able to fully install. So we’re looking forward to styling and shooting it this spring!

A few cool custom elements included in this built in:

-Wine racks thread at a 30-45 degree angle for the integrity of the wine.
-American made custom brass+ glass shelves that will patina to perfection
-Mirrored smoke glass used for the
backsplash (hard to see here)
-Purposeful 18” depth cabinetry for a narrow dining room to keep the walkways clear

My hat is crooked and my teeth are numb but we’re safe, calling representatives, and having our kids memorize key parts of the constitution.

So. Marching on. We hope you’re marching with us. Moving forward with resolve and an action oriented plan to hold tight to principals instead of parties,
when it means the very most.

Remember what many of us recited, hand to heart at 8:00 am every morning of our youth? Did it mean anything?

Remember the emotions felt when songs about our beautiful country came on?

I want my kids to live in a land that still diserves that kind of pride.

There is more light than evil. Rise up with us.

The difference between elevated design and meh design, is in the noticing of details that many over look. God gave me OCD so I’m excellent at that 🤣
I feel that my husband probably appreciates this trait less than my Clients.

A room could be falling flat because it’s missing something living (the perfect plant). This point is shockingly impactful.

Or matching trim on a few furniture pieces around the room.

Maybe it’s a random piece of art that’s quirky and unexpected because it doesn’t quite match, and yet somehow it just works.

Perhaps the color palette isn’t adjusted quite right leaving each space matching each other a little too much, or rather feeling disjointed as you walk through the house. Often few hits of different fabric, fixes that pretty fast.

Some times it just really takes time to layer. And other times it’s a fleshed out plan you need, so it feels less overwhelming.

Nurseries often pull double duty. This one needed to be a guest room once a month or so, and a little Bebe boy’s sweet getaway. With a window view out to magnolia trees (and the perfect light), a mix of different types of art, and fairly gender neutral patterns for down the road if kids swapped rooms—-this nursery hit all the marks.
