Now this is a piece of Oregon history. 🌹
This striking vintage plaque dates to the 1937 Portland Rose Festival and was presented to The Cherrians and the City of Salem, Oregon, in appreciation of their participation in the festival.
The artwork is wonderful a dramatic Portland skyline rising through the clouds, a large rose, Bonneville Dam, water and landscape, all rendered in beautiful shades of blue, cream, black and red.
What makes this piece especially intriguing is that it appears to have been created as a specific presentation or commemorative piece, rather than simply as a mass-produced souvenir. I have not found another exactly like it, and I believe it may possibly be one of a kind.
The plaque measures approximately 15 x 7 inches and shows the wonderful age and wear you would hope to see on an original piece from 1937.
Nearly 90 years old, and still telling the story of one of Oregon's most beloved traditions.
For the collector of Oregon history, Portland memorabilia, Rose Festival pieces, Salem history, or unusual advertising and ephemera, this is a special one.
A little piece of Oregon history that may never turn up again.

Some furniture has secrets.....

Myrtle always felt more at home in the forest. She could hear the trees sigh and whisper, the ferns told secrets and the soft earth snored. When Myrtle went into the forest and did not come out, no one worried, they knew she would come back eventually. But Myrtle never came back she stayed and magical things happened.

There is a new bird in The Tattered Attic!

Timothy loves books, not just any books, but old books with weathered leather covers and beautifully marbled pages. He lives in a tiny cottage tucked away in a quiet village, where one room has been devoted entirely to his treasured collection. Bookshelves stretch from floor to ceiling, every one of them crowded with ancient volumes. In the corner, a small fireplace glows softly, giving off just enough warmth to ward off the evening chill.
