The History of Labor Day 🇺🇸

Labor Day began during the late 1800s, a time when many American workers faced long hours, low pay, and unsafe working conditions. Labor unions and workers began organizing to fight for better wages, shorter workdays, and safer workplaces.

The first Labor Day parade was held in New York City on September 5, 1882, organized by labor unions. Thousands of workers marched together to show support for working people and their rights.

As the idea grew in popularity, more states began recognizing Labor Day as an official holiday. In 1894, following a period of major labor unrest in the United States, Congress passed legislation making Labor Day a national federal holiday. President Grover Cleveland signed it into law on June 28, 1894.

Today, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the hard work, dedication, and contributions of American workers and recognizes the important role they have played in building and strengthening the country.
Labor Day is more than just the unofficial end of summer—it's a tribute to the hardworking people who keep America moving forward. 🇺🇸💪
