It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Sharon Stone passed away suddenly in a vehicle collision on Friday, January 8th. Always the main and most industrious Stitcher, she will be missed for myriad reasons. Our family knows that she made special connections with people in almost everything that she did. She was a very intentional person by nature, and many of you experienced this.
We will be discontinuing her business and services at this time. However, we will be offering a Farewell Sale of the remainder of her inventory, knowing how unique some of her colors were, and that some people may want to purchase what they can of the last of her work. Unfortunately, this sale will be delayed for a few weeks as we sort out a few other end-of-life details on Sharon’s part, while also welcoming a new life into my own (Anna’s) family. Sharon’s fatal accident took place 10 days before the scheduled birth of my 4th baby, Sharon’s 15th grandchild. Since we all helped mom in the shop for years and understand the time it takes to organize, correspond with customers and ship product, we do not want to over commit in such a difficult and busy time. For this reason, we thought it best to wait several weeks to begin the sale. We hope to post regular reminders and teasers for you here on her page.
Furthermore, we are aware that she may have been in possession of some of her customers’ very sentimental fiber as she did many custom jobs. If she was in the process of completing any sort of a custom spinning or dying job for you, please message me through this page, and I can try to see what the status of it while we do our best to sort things out in her studio. We are sure you understand that jobs begun by Sharon may not be able to be completed, especially custom dye jobs. Sharon’s work was all by hand, and most of the formulas existed only in her own colorful mind. While we talked often and all of us have been trained since childhood on the technicalities of how to do much of her work, the details such as fiber mixtures and dye color ratios are things that only she knew. We would, however, love to be able to return any fiber that belongs to you.
We know that Sharon worked as unto the Lord and not for men in the things that she did, and that was reflected here. We also know that she was very special and beloved by many of her customers and business relations over decades of work in the fiber community, and we appreciate all well wishes and condolences. Thank you all for supporting her work over the years.
