Each grouping holds interest as artistic sculpture before the water and lighting is added. The result is an aesthetically beautiful and scientifically fascinating conversation piece.

How to drill Beaver Canyon andesite columns from two directions to meet in the middle...(video coming soon!)

Given all the interest recently in how we split block with feather and wedges, my wife suggested I post a video of drilling the individual columns.

Just got done drilling a bunch of columns. Next time I set up to drill we will shoot a video. It's a homemade jig Greg conceived of and created. Here are a couple still pictures for now ...

My client, Amanda, requested that I continue to post videos of the progress on her fountain. I was surprised this morning to wake up to 8,000 views from yesterday's video of Greg splitting a block with feather and wedges.

Just came off the mountain and checked again. We're up to 67,000 views! Thanks for all the shares and all the interest.

The feature that occasioned this trip to our shop in Washington State was commissioned by my fearless client, Amanda, who lives in Sarasota, FL.

Amanda's HOA refused her request to install the fountain I proposed, as no landscape art installations should exceed 3.5 feet, because ... well, just "because".

Amanda was out of town at the time the ruling came down from on high, but she recruited an ally who went around the gated community and photographed all the examples of violations by folks who figured it's better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Before I was informed by Amanda that she won the appeal, she had already transferred the deposit to my account!

Amanda was in the outback of Australia when she saw this video. Internet reception is sketchy for both of us, but we managed to communicate. She asked for more videos of the process as it unfolds and I will post them here.

Splitting Beaver Canyon andesite block. We decided to practice on this block before splitting the one in the next video, which I selected for the centerpiece of an installation that was commissioned by a client in Sarasota, FL.

Greg's late business partner, Bob Jewett, was a master at splitting block. What he imparted to Greg, Greg then shared with me, and we got the job done.
