My client recently purchased a home in Pacific Grove and brought me in to help furnish it. Nearly everything I selected was made in the USA, many pieces sourced from small, independent makers. The stunning cherry wood dining table and incredibly comfortable chairs are and handcrafted in Maine. The chandelier is handmade in South Carolina and the linen shades are made in Illinois. Original art from a local artist 🧑‍🎨
The last two images are renderings that show the remaining pieces - side board, lamps, and accessories - that will complete the room.

Day 3 -
Interior of the Main Post office, gorgeous doors everywhere and the Palace of Fine Arts with a Tiffany ‘curtain’ made of a million pieces of glass. Also the stained glass ceiling and the lobby!

Trends that I saw at High Point Market this Fall 🍁

- Plaid and florals and lots of color, yay! Details and trims on upholstery, drapery and soft goods. Piping (especially eyelash trim), decorative ribbons, and tassel trim in coordinating colors.

- Traditional furniture in deep wood tones. Classics never go out of style!

- Details in casegoods such as marquetry and carvings.

- Wallpaper is not going away anytime soon as evidenced by all the beautiful wallpapered showrooms. The bolder the better!

- Another design element that kept popping up everywhere is scalloped edges on upholstered goods as well as case goods.

- Stone tables are back and in addition to the usual black and white marble, there was a lot of travertine in peach tones.

- Curved sofas are having a moment and for good reason. Everyone’s favorite piece from market was the sectional that had round swivel chairs at each end. So fun!

Overall there was a comeback to classic, timeless decor with traditional furniture, deep colors and textures and an abundance of decorative details.

I spent the weekend getting the kid’s rooms ready for the summer (2 of the 3 are coming home this week from college 😀) and realized that this room that I designed for my oldest over 13 years ago still looks good! When he went away to college, my middle moved into that room and I made a few changes (R pillow to replace the S pillow, and his artwork)but other than the bed sheets, I’ve not had to change anything.
Remodeling and designing a space takes a lot of time and investment so I always say . Good quality and classic elements will always stand the test of time.
