I’m excited to announce a big change with a new name: Desert Rae Home ✨

I’ll always love the old “all.things.by.bek” but I’m also excited for this change and today was the day to make it happen 🎉

Desert Rae Home will continue to be everything as before: • Decorating Tips & Tricks
• Home Redesign & Staging Projects
• Everything Fresh & Faux Florals
• Good Reads & Weekly Design Quizzes

Where did the new name come from? 🤔
Since the beginning, this page was inspired by being able to share my sunshine and have fun doing it! As it’s grown I wanted the title to share three important things:
• Where I’m from - the beautiful Desert of Arizona🏜️
• Who I am - Rae, my middle name from my sweet Great Grandma 🤍
• & what this page is all about - HOME 🏠

Thank you to everyone for following along, I’m excited for all that’s to come 💕

“A Touch of Farmhouse Charm” by Liz Fourez was a reread for me, it is one of my favorites! It’s a good read completely made up of easy DIY projects to add a warm and rustic feel to your home 🤍

The word “Farmhouse” is starting to get a bad wrap nowadays, it feels like it’s becoming the new Tuscan. And in some ways I agree, I’m tired of cheesy decor that has lost originality and is found in every local store. But truly at the core, “Farmhouse” is not a go and gone trend but a lifestyle by those who live it.

Liz Forez depicted my absolute favorite style in her book. Farmhouse is storing your families boots in your front entry with soft linens and chunky jute rugs. Farmhouse is black hardware hooks and hanging antlers with beautiful shiplap walls and rustic frames. Farmhouse is white washed wood, fresh herbs in the kitchen, and cherished antiques. But most of all, Farmhouse is a family centered, outdoor and animal loving, free kind of life.

Go check out this book and create something beautiful for your home! ✨🌿

I’m not lying when I say this book took me almost two months to finish but that’s only because I couldn’t help but read over every little caption. Elements of Family Style is a sequel to Erin Gates first book Elements of Style, which is my next read. What really stood apart to me in Erin’s book was not only the fabulous designs in bold colors and patterns but the personal touch that she added to it. With personal stories of raising her son to the collaboration with several other designers through quotes and shared work, this has to be one of my ultimate favorites. I would recommend this book to any mom or design lover! Some quotes from the book that I loved…

“I hope this book inspires you to create the kind of home that you can feel not only proud of but also comfortable in, surrounded by the people who light up your world”

“A House is only a home when it’s filled with the people you love”

Some more before and afters of the recent Timberline Project! ✨

What I loved about this home restyle was incorporating family heirloom furniture to fit the wanted Mediterranean style 🤍

I wish I got more pictures but I love how this shows how little changes can make a huge difference in a space 🌿

Something I live by, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” -William Morris ✨

I often have friends and family reach out saying they’re about to move, have just moved, or even have been in their house for a while but are wanting some tips oh how to make their home feel like their style. So here is just a scratch on the surface of what I would recommend. Hope this helps! 🫶🏼

Time for an introduction ✨

I’ve come to a realization that I haven’t formally introduced myself on my page to followers that may not know me. So if we havent met, here’s a little about me:

• My love for design started as early as I can remember, sketching imaginative floor plans and creating custom doll houses was a regular thing for me as a little girl. I always knew that interior design would be a love of mine and I think having two grandmothers who were professional designers in their day played a great role to my decision of doing the same🤍

• When I started this page I was taking interior design classes at Highland High School and was President of the Interior Design Club! 🦅

• It was also in high school that I began working for and fell in love with retail merchanding! I’ve continued to create beautiful displays for many boutiques since then 😍

• After high school, I continued my studies in residential interior design at and after two and a half years, I graduated with my Associates in Applied Sciences in Interior Design 🎓

• And now I get to do what I love and stage homes with 🏡

So thank you for following along, there’s so much more to come! It’s such a joy to share my sunshine ☀️

Something I want to start doing is sharing Good Reads 📚 starting with this months Phoenix Home + Gardens magazine 🌵🤍

Some Design Takeaways from this Good Read:
• “Where some people see flaws, others see character”
If you have a historic home or vintage piece, highlight the character within it. That’s something you can’t make but only find ✨
• Designing with mixed materials not only creates contrast but conversation 😮
• Hydrangeas have been this years spring and summer flower and they’re more beautiful than ever 😍
• Studio McGee and Kohler launched a new kitchen and bath collection 🎉
• And lastly, I will forever be amazed by how rich Arizona is in our design history. Home + Gardens wrote a piece on Al Bradley who was a 50’s mid century architect and highlighted some of his projects that are still around 🏜️
