Small living room done 2 ways ✨

When we redesigned this Airbnb duplex, rented as one full home, the first thing we spotted was a big clarity issue:
Both living rooms looked identical.
Same furniture, same decor, which made the Airbnb photos blend together and left guests confused about the space.

So when we redesigned it, we created two distinct living rooms that still speak the same design language, different enough for guests to understand the layout and cohesive enough to feel like one intentional property.

Because in a high performing Airbnb, clarity + cohesion equals more bookings.

So we DIYed a little makeover: bamboo for filtered/ dreamy light, roofing for weather proofing, and a few cozy touches to make it the ultimate hangout spot.

Now it’s the most loved hangout spot in the house!

After 5 years live on Airbnb, it was time for a revamp, but what was surprising was that most of the furniture was still in great condition! We only had to replace one table 👏 so we focused on revamping the decor, and adding amenities. That’s the power of choosing the right pieces from the start—durable, stylish, and built to withstand the wear of a short-term rental.

Let’s talk about a common myth in the host community: cramming as many beds as possible into a rental will maximize your earnings. Sounds tempting, right? But let me tell you why that’s not always the case.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take this beautiful Bonus Room at . It has a cozy built-in sofa, a hanging chair, a daybed, and even an Arcade game console. Now, this space could have been an extra full bedroom. But with only one bathroom and two other bedrooms, turning it into another sleeping area would mean hosting 7 people with 1 bathroom. That’s not the kind of guest experience I want to offer!

Sure, you might think more heads in beds means more dollars in your pocket—but not if it comes at the cost of guest comfort! Instead, focus on creating a standout experience. When we stumbled upon this 1949 house, it wasn’t love at first sight for everyone; It was old, small, and it had been neglected for a while so it needed a lot of work…but we envisioned its potential and fell in love with it!
