Wool and Silk. Woven under the direction of Michel Audran ( French, 1701-1771 ) at the Manufacture Royale National Des Gobelins ( French, Paris established 1662). Tough woven in 18th century Paris, these hangings were designed after a 16th century Netherlandish tapestry set ( now lost) in the French royal collection. Textiles of centuries and cultures. ❤️

Rumor says up until twenty years ago every Italian town used to have a tailor on its main street. Now that most of them are gone, this little shop on Piazza del Popolo 2, Montalcino becomes a rare find💎. Hope this post find its way to those who appreciates craftsmanship that’s lived in generations.🙏🏻 And needless to say usually through women 😉. As miraculous as it is, they are still rescuing people and pets at this very moment on the 9th day of this horrific incident. 32.000 souls have left us and the number is expected to hit more than a hundred thousand since there are thousands of buildings in 10 cities leveled down.
Yes the damage is unfathomable and now every single minute counts even more!
We, as Letters From Bosphorus, whose home textile designs are continuously inspired by its history and its arts that this country has to offer for centuries, have allocated our resources in the form of tangible products that are in urgent need in the affected areas and as in means to transport items in between aid centers and the villages in the area. Of course to the extent of our capabilities and our limited resources….
Nevertheless, our beautiful country still need your help for the unforeseeable future. Please, don’t hesitate to take a further step in humanity and help us in rescuing and rebuilding southeast part of Turkiye. Same goes for our neighboring friends in north region of Syria, whom also lost a lot not only in this incident but also during the last decade.
And do it by where the first drive has always been the HUMANITY in center, not the politics.
