Crustless Sausage and Spinach Quiche 🍳🥬✨
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground sausage (turkey or pork)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, finely diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or half-and-half for a creamier texture)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish or a similar baking dish.
2. Cook the Sausage:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. If the sausage is lean, you may need to add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Remove from heat and drain excess grease.
3. Cook the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add the chopped spinach and cook for another 1–2 minutes, or until wilted.
4. Combine the Fillings:
- Spread the cooked sausage, onion, and spinach evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
5. Prepare the Egg Mixture:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, nutmeg (if using), salt, and black pepper. Pour the mixture over the sausage and cheese in the baking dish.
6. Bake the Quiche:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the quiche is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
7. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the quiche to cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
