Studio Stories: For the longest time, we’ve admired Jorge Lizarazo’s beautiful work. Through Hechizoo, his Bogotá-based atelier, traditional indigenous weaving techniques are transformed into tapestries, rugs, objects, and fabrics that blur the line between craft and art. Each piece is handmade, with natural and precious materials woven into intricate expressions of texture and pattern.

Studio RODA has had the pleasure of collaborating with Hechizoo and integrating their work into interior architecture in different ways. In a multi-brand retail project in Bolivia, a suspended installation fills an architectural void, radiating through the oval opening and creating an ethereal focal point. In a private residential project, oversized woven panels delicately define and separate spaces, adding texture and pattern while maintaining a sense of openness.

Hechizoo’s work stands beautifully on its own as art, but it can also become an integral part of the architecture.

The client’s brief called for color and visual interest, with an emphasis on sculptural elements.

Pairing the suede Terrazza sofas with Slice Me Up walnut coffee table, we wanted to create a dialogue between the organic, terrain-like forms of each piece. A custom handwoven silk rug extends that idea across the floor, with a silhouette and topographical lines we hand-drew specifically to connect and frame the pieces above it.

The gallery’s dark green facade was a deliberate choice. Set among the warehouses of the surrounding neighborhood, the deep color gives the building a distinct presence and creates a quiet backdrop for the gallery’s signage.

At night, the windows take on a different role, glowing against the darker facade and drawing attention to the activity within. Together, the contrast of the deep green exterior and illuminated openings gives the gallery a presence that feels both understated and unmistakable within its industrial surroundings.

Studio Stories: Inspired by the residence’s architectural concept, rooted in the Streamline Moderne movement of the 1930s, the powder room became an opportunity to reinterpret that language on a more intimate scale.

Fluid lines peel away from the walls to become integrated vanity lighting, while a sculptural stone vanity with softened edges mirrors the gentle curves that define the architecture beyond. The space is conceived as a continuation of the home’s design vocabulary, where every gesture feels intentional, and each element exists in quiet dialogue with the next.

Although we ultimately settled on a lighter palette, the design intent remained constant. The essence of Streamline Moderne is expressed through fluid forms, carefully considered proportions, and a restrained material palette, allowing the powder room to feel like a natural extension of the architecture.

A study in color, materiality, and composition. Deep forest green Venetian plaster envelops the dining room, creating a rich backdrop for a thoughtfully curated collection of furnishings. A light green resin table by is paired with Jorge Zalszupin’s 1960s dining chairs, crafted from Brazilian Pau Ferro and upholstered in suede. Suspended above, an oversized Murano chandelier by lends a sculptural presence, bringing warmth and balance to the composition.
